They Shaved My Head on My Wedding Night, and My Donna Mother-in-Law Went on a Rampage Chapter 03

Matteo came over and reached for me.

I pulled away, leaving his hand suspended between us.

“Alessia, just calm down.”

I stared at him.

“How am I supposed to calm down?”

He looked at my head and swallowed.

“I know how hurt you are, but the wedding is tomorrow. The guests are already here. Every member of the Vitale family will be attending, and the Syndicate Council is sending representatives.”

“Your father has invited a long list of political allies too. If we make a scene now, this will spiral out of control.”

“So?”

Matteo was silent for two seconds.

“I’ll make Ginevra apologize.”

Ginevra’s eyes immediately filled with tears.

“Alessia, I’m sorry, okay?”

Matteo looked at me as if he expected me to accept her apology and let the matter go.

I let out a humorless laugh.

“She shaved me bald, and you think saying sorry fixes that?”

Ginevra cried even harder.

“I knew it. Alessia has always hated me. Just because Matteo and I grew up together, she thinks I’m trying to steal her husband. But I’ve always seen Matteo and the Vitales as family.”

The bridesmaids immediately came to her defense.

“Ginevra went a little too far, but do we really need to blow this out of proportion?”

“The wedding is what matters. Can’t we focus on fixing your hair first?”

“Exactly. Worst case, we get you a high-end wig.”

Several more people entered the suite. The hotel’s wedding director ,Ivy, led the way, followed by the bridal stylist and the lead photographer.

Ivy visibly faltered when she saw me, but she quickly recovered her professional smile.

“Mr. and Mrs. Vitale, I’ve been briefed on the situation.”

She spoke as though someone had ordered the wrong color flowers.

“We can have a wig brought in immediately and have Mrs. Vitale ready by six tomorrow morning.”

I looked her in the eye.

“I’m calling the police.”

Matteo frowned and snapped my name.

“Alessia.”

The Vitales avoided law enforcement whenever possible. Most of the family’s businesses had gone legitimate, but there were still plenty of things that wouldn’t survive official scrutiny.

But I refused to let this go.

Even if I could tolerate being treated this way, my father would never stand by and let anyone hurt me.

Ivy lowered her voice.

“Mrs. Vitale, I understand that you’re upset. But calling the police would affect the hotel, the wedding, and both families.”

“Several media outlets will be here tomorrow. If this gets out, it won’t reflect well on anyone.”

“A pre-wedding prank like this would be better handled privately.”

The suite suddenly felt like an enormous glass cage. Everyone else stood safely outside it, watching me tremble and fall apart.

I picked up my phone, my fingers shaking badly.

I was going to call 911.

Matteo pressed his hand over mine.

“Don’t do anything impulsive. It’s not that I won’t help you, but if you call the police now, this will turn into a public scandal.”

“Ginevra’s parents are here at the hotel too. Their family and the Vitales have known each other for years.”

I tore my hand free.

“So you’re still choosing her.”

Matteo nearly lost his balance, his face paling as he realized how close I was to losing control.

“No. I’m choosing you. I just don’t think this needs to become a full-blown scandal.”

Ginevra sniffled softly.

“Matteo, please don’t fight with Alessia because of me.”

What a perfect little performance.

She was the one who had hurt me, yet somehow, she’d made herself sound like the wounded woman caught in the middle.

Ivy took advantage of the opening and pulled out a tablet.

“Mrs. Vitale, why don’t you look at some wig options first? This one looks completely natural and will cover the irritated areas on your scalp.”

She held the tablet in front of me and winked at Ginevra when she thought I wouldn’t notice.

I understood immediately.

She was one of Ginevra’s people too.

She knew Matteo well, and because he’d been too busy to handle the wedding himself, he’d entrusted much of the planning to her.

I had no idea how many other traps were waiting for me at this wedding.

My fingers tightened around the tablet.

The screen cracked.

A second later, the entire device snapped in half.

The room fell silent.

I turned to get my bag.

I was leaving.

But Ivy blocked the doorway.

“Mrs. Vitale, you’re emotionally unstable right now. It would be best if you didn’t go anywhere.”

Beatrice muttered under her breath.

“Running around bald would be even more humiliating, wouldn’t it?”

I spun toward her.

She raised her phone with a smile.

“Don’t glare at me. I’m recording. We can put this in the behind-the-scenes wedding video later.”
