They Rejected an SSS Bloodline, Big Mistake Chapter 10

They Rejected an SSS Bloodline, Big Mistake Chapter 10

He froze, his hand holding the case stuck mid-air.

Before he could answer, I kept going. “You don’t remember now, but you used to remember.

“When we first met, you remembered I don’t like sweet food, you remembered I hate pink, you always asked for no sugar when you bought me honey drinks from the market.

“But then you changed. Because Lila loves pink more than anything, she loves sweet food, she loves

everything flashy and eye-catching.”

I looked at his face, which had gone paper white in an instant, and every word cut deep. “You just took it for granted that what she likes is what I like too.”

Gideon grabbed his head in agony. “No! I just got careless… Sera, can we start over? I swear I’ll only be good to you from now on!”

“I don’t need that.”

I stepped into the rain.

I never looked back once.

After enlistment, I used that stipend to rebuild my life from scratch.

I didn’t have to suppress my preferences to please anyone anymore.

On Full Moon Festival, I posted my first clan update since joining the corps.

In the video, I was wearing a crimson uniform, standing on a seaside rock, sea breeze blowing through my hair, grinning bright and free at the camera.

Less than ten minutes after I posted it, my old friends blew up the comments.

Iris was the first, spamming comments like crazy.

[OH MY GOD! Sera, you’ve always been this gorgeous?! Your features are insane!]

My squad leader added. [You used to wear baggy old clothes and keep your head down all the time, none of us noticed. You’re way more stunning than your sister!]

[Confident wolf girl is the prettiest! Sera, you’re literally glowing right now!]

I just posted a simple smile emoji when I saw these comments.

The truth was, I never changed.

I didn’t shine before only because years of neglect and mistreatment from the Ashfords had covered me in a thick layer of dust.

Now, I’d washed that layer of dust off with my own hands.

Four years later.

A crowd swarmed around the RCT promotion announcement board.

My name was at the top of the list for the outpost elite guard selection.

My roommate Iris carried my gear for me and tossed out a piece of gossip offhand. “Sera, I heard your little sister’s been buying designer nonstop at the Southeastern Training Grounds, skipping

training all the time. She failed so many exams she didn’t even qualify for the guard.

“Your parents sold the old family estate to send her overseas to ‘polish her’, and now they’re begging all the distant relatives for money. No one will even answer their calls.

“And that Gideon? I heard he’s dated a few girls these past few years, every one looks a little like you, and they all broke up with him in the end.”

I filed the last of my gear and locked the cabinet.

“Is that so?” I answered casually, didn’t ask another single question.

Whether their lives were a puddle of mud or a bottomless pit, it had nothing to do with me anymore.

I changed out of my training uniform and walked out of the barracks.

The sun was shining bright, the sea breeze carried a salty, wet scent straight to me.

I took a deep breath and strode forward down the palm-lined path.

My journey led to a whole bigger world.

As for the mud pit behind me, I stepped out of it a long time ago.
