They Forged My DNA Test–Fine, I’m No Longer Your Daughter Chapter 03

As soon as I returned to the Valen estate, I emailed my advisor, Mrs. Mercer, to confirm my enrollment.

I spent the next day locked in my room, packing.

That evening, laughter suddenly rose from downstairs.

Stellan was home.

As Moonvale Pack’s future Alpha, he had just returned from negotiations in the Northlands.

Once, he had been the only person in this family who made me feel loved.

I had clung to him as a child, and he practically helped raise me.

Father sent him to the Northlands for training. He barely had time to sleep, but he still checked on me every day.

Then I became the “adopted daughter.”

His messages stopped.

Months ago, I asked if he could come home for my graduation ceremony.

He never replied.

I wasn’t naive enough to think he had come back for me.

Sure enough, through the crack in my door, I saw Stellan gently ruffling Seraphine’s hair.

His voice was warm with genuine longing.

“I came home too late. I missed my chance to take a picture with my little sister.

“I should be punished for that.”

Seraphine gave a little huff and looped her arm through his.

“Then your punishment is three months off. Stay here with me.”

Stellan agreed without a second thought.

Everything between them looked so easy, so warm.

It was a warmth he hadn’t shown me in years.

I’d always told myself he’d simply grown colder with age.

Then one day, I overheard a call between him and Mother.

She casually asked why he’d adored me as a child but now went out of his way to avoid me, and why he still hadn’t come home after his assignment in the Northlands ended.

Stellan was silent for a long time.

When he finally spoke, his voice was hoarse.

“When Elowen was little, she looked exactly like Seraphine.”

The words sliced deeper than any blade laced with wolfsbane.

He sighed on the other end of the call.

“I don’t want to treat them differently.

“But every time I see Elowen so alive and happy, all I can picture is Seraphine lying in that cold hospital bed.

“I can’t bear it.”

That night, I cried myself to sleep.

I couldn’t understand one thing.

None of this was my fault. Why was I the one being punished?

I had fought back.

I tried to challenge Seraphine at every turn.

Then the forged DNA report landed in front of me.

At first, I didn’t believe it. I secretly took another test.

It proved I really was Mother and Father’s biological daughter.

Even then, I chose to give up.

I stopped fighting.

When Seraphine shredded one of my dresses, I still let her have it.

She ruined my birthday party, and I cleaned up and started over.

I even stepped aside and let her have Caelan Ashford, the man I’d loved for years.

Because the moment they abandoned me for Seraphine, I knew I could never win.

Seraphine’s laughter outside my door pulled me back to the present.

“Fine. I’ll do you the favor of posing for one.

“Come on, everyone. Family photo.

“Caelan, you too!”

No one dared refuse her.

A moment later, she screamed.

“Stellan! The wolf-fang necklace you gave me is gone!

“I wanted to wear it in the family picture!

“I know I left it with the graduation gown.”

Her voice grew more frantic by the second.

Then she turned toward my room, her voice breaking.

“Elowen must have taken it.”

She pounded on my door, sobbing.

“Elowen, please give it back.

“It’s the first gift Stellan gave me after I woke up.

“If you’re angry because I took Mother, Father, Stellan, and Caelan from you, I’ll never speak to any of them again.

“Just please give it back. Please?”

I went rigid at the sound of her crying.

I reached for the knob, ready to explain.

Before I could, someone kicked the door open.

“Hand over the necklace, Elowen.”

I hadn’t taken it.

But who would ever believe me?

Mother rounded on me, her eyes blazing.

“We thought you’d finally grown up and stopped resenting her over every little thing.

“So it was all an act.

“You pretended to behave just to lower our guard, then stole the thing Seraphine treasures most?”

I clenched my fists until my nails bit into my palms.

My voice came out rough and dry.

“I didn’t take it.”

Seraphine swayed and toppled backward as if she were about to faint from crying.

Caelan caught her, then roared at me.

“Elowen, when are you going to stop this?

“Is it really so hard to be kind to her?

“Are you so jealous that you won’t stop until you’ve destroyed everything she has?”

I said nothing.

Every defense lodged in my throat like broken shards.

The pain left me unable to force out a single word.

Suddenly, Seraphine lunged at my packed suitcase and tore through it.

In the chaos, my acceptance letter from Royal Crescent Academy fell out.

Cold swept through me, and a scream tore from my throat.

“Stop!

“Don’t touch that!”

I was too late.

Seraphine tore it to pieces.

My world went silent.

She leaned close and whispered in my ear.

“One of your schoolmates told me about your application to Royal Crescent Academy.

“Did you really think you could just walk away?

“Not a chance.

“You’ll spend the rest of your life in my shadow.”

She giggled.

“Oh, and the necklace was never missing.

“I just needed an excuse to destroy your acceptance letter.

“Oops. Sorry.”

Something inside me snapped. My claws sprang out, and my eyes flashed gold.

My wolf surged to the surface.

I shoved her away with all my strength.

Seraphine hit the floor and immediately burst into tears.

Caelan rushed over to help her.

Stellan seized my wrist, his voice cold. “Elowen, when are you going to stop this?”

I didn’t answer.

I only dropped to my knees, hands shaking as I tried to piece the torn scraps back together.

That acceptance letter was my only way out.

It was the future I’d fought so hard to earn.

Amid the chaos, a second sheet slipped from the file and fluttered to the floor.

Stellan released me and looked down.

The heading caught his eye.

[DNA Test Results]

His eyes widened.

“What’s this?”
