He stopped visiting Celeste in the hidden subterranean enclave. He stopped handling company business.

Instead, he locked himself inside the villa where Evelyn had lived and spent every day staring at her photographs.

Everything remained exactly as she had left it.

The milk she had left unfinished still sat on the dining table. Her clothes still hung in the closet, and her skincare products still sat on the vanity.

It looked as though she had only stepped out to buy something and would return at any moment.

Celeste came to see him every day. She cooked for him, cleaned up, and kept him company with quiet tenderness.

Vincent remained cold toward her and sometimes even ordered her to leave.

He began obsessively investigating the kidnapping, chasing every possible lead.

But Frank and his crew had vanished without a trace.

Six months later, Graham found an encrypted flash drive while sorting through Evelyn’s belongings.

Vincent unlocked it using Evelyn’s birthday as the password.

There was only one folder inside.

It was titled “Evidence of Vincent’s Crimes.”

The folder contained countless photographs and several videos.

The photographs showed Vincent and Celeste together inside the subterranean enclave. Others showed him attending various events with her.

One captured the moment he personally handed Celeste the transfer agreement for the redevelopment parcel.

The videos revealed that Celeste had planned everything from the beginning.

Celeste had never been a nun from an inner-city mission.

She was Julian Rinaldi’s former girlfriend.

Years earlier, Julian had discovered that she was embezzling company funds and having an affair with another man. When he tried to end their relationship, she orchestrated a car crash that killed him.

Afterward, she posed as a nun with no family and nowhere to turn. She exploited Vincent’s guilt over his brother’s death, slowly drawing closer until she had earned his trust.

Another video showed exactly what had happened in the Bentley when Celeste deleted the kidnapping footage.

On-screen, Celeste watched Evelyn being beaten without the slightest trace of sympathy. Instead, a cruel smile appeared on her face.

“Evelyn, you’ll never beat me,” she murmured. “Vincent will be mine eventually, and so will the Rinaldi Group.”

The final video had been secretly recorded by Evelyn while she was being held captive.

Her face was deathly pale, and blood covered her body. Her stomach was already flat.

She stared into the camera with empty eyes.

“Vincent, if you’re watching this, then I’m already dead.”

“I don’t blame the kidnappers. I blame you.”

“I blame you for being blind enough to fall in love with a monster.”

“Our baby is gone. You killed our child with your own hands.”

“From this moment on, every bit of love I ever had for you is dead.”

“This is where our love ends.”

When the video stopped, the room fell completely silent.

Vincent sat before the computer, cold all over, as though he had fallen into a bottomless abyss.

Celeste had deceived him all along.

Evelyn had never lied to him.

He had killed his own wife and child with his own hands.

Regret and agony overwhelmed him.

He drove his fist into the monitor. The screen shattered instantly, shards of glass sliced open his hand, and blood splattered across the keyboard.

Vincent slumped over the desk and sobbed like a child.

It was the first time he had ever cried for Evelyn, and the last.

After crying for a long time, he wiped away his tears. His eyes turned cold and resolute.
