The Villainess Gets Her Way Chapter 02

The Villainess Gets Her Way Chapter 02

Lucian watched me hold my head in silence.

After a long pause, he said, “Miss, are you alright?”

The second he opened his mouth, the fire in me found its target.

I slapped him again.

“No, I’m not alright! If you hadn’t taken Charles out that day, none of this would’ve happened. He’d be here, and I wouldn’t have a migraine from hell.”

And none of the rest of it would be happening either.

Amnesia. The female lead. The broken engagement.

The ending the system showed me? All their fault.

If they hadn’t taken him out — or if they’d actually done their jobs and protected him — I’d already be living the good life.

The system’s words died in its throat.

It had shown me the plot to scare me straight, to make me dial it back.

Instead, I went harder.

Lucian turned his face slightly, his voice low and steady. “You’re right to be angry, Miss.”

That. Right there. That attitude made me want to scream.

I threw a glass of whiskey in his face.

Lucian flinched, eyes shut tight as the whiskey dripped down the bridge of his nose.

He had sharp features. Good bone structure. The whiskey just made him look darker, more dangerous.

The stain spread across his collar, clinging to his neck.

But the better he looked, the more I wanted to ruin him.

Lucian acted obedient, but he had his lines in the sand.

As Charles’s right-hand man, he’d let me beat him black and blue every single day, but he absolutely refused to let me have a taste.

Having a man like that hanging around, all tease and no follow-through?

After a while, wanting turns into hating.

If you’re not going to let me touch, drop dead.

I spat, “Get out of my sight. Useless.”

Lucian’s lashes flickered. He pressed his lips together, said nothing.

He picked himself up off the floor.

He swayed a little — he’d been kneeling too long.

Compared to usual, today had been a light day.

Normally, they’d walk away with fresh whip marks.

He should be thanking the weird voice living in my head.

Otherwise, I’d have given him a few more lashes before letting him leave.
