The Villainess Filed for Divorce—Now the ML Wants Her Back! Chapter 10

-After Damian and I confessed our feelings, we were glued to each other every day.

He left work on time every day.

The Sterling Group employees started thinking something was wrong with him.

Some even wondered if the company was going bankrupt.

When Damian’s mother found out I was pregnant, she was overjoyed:

She wired me ten million dollars that same day.

She said there’d be another ten million after the baby was born.

Riley was so jealous she couldn’t stand it.

Then she announced she wanted to be my sister–in–law.

She figured that with my family’s money, even if it wasn’t ten million, a million was definitely doable.

But thinking of my idiot brother, I immediately shut that down.

Later, when my brother found out, he looked like he’d just been stepped on.

“Evelyn, how could you reject her?”

“?”

“I don’t care. You owe me!”

“!”

“When Riley comes to hang out, you better call me. You hear me?”

I nodded, dazed. I suddenly felt like I’d missed out on a lot of drama.

Life after getting pregnant was even more boring.

Damian spent as much time with me as he could, but the company needed him.

One day, while he was gone, I went out by myself.

I’d been eating clean for too long. I needed something greasy and satisfying.

But before I made it to the best BBQ joint in town, a hand clamped over my mouth and dragged me into a

car.

With a hand over my mouth, I could only make muffled sounds.

Then a girl in a floral dress appeared in front of me. Chloe.

She smiled at me, and it made my blood run cold.

“Long time no see, my Villainess!”

I tried to speak, but nothing came out.

Damn it. I wanted to call her a psycho, but I couldn’t get the words out.

Chloe seemed to get the message and waved a hand. The big guy behind me let go.

The moment my mouth was free, I started cursing her out.

Chloe just sat down in a chair like she had all the time in the world:

When I’d cursed myself hoarse, she finally spoke. “Done?”

She could tell I was still cursing her in my head.

She looked me over. “Pretty face. Too bad you’re not the Female Lead.”

“What did you say?”

“You’ve done so many things you weren’t supposed to. You probably know what you are by now.”

I stared at her, eyes wide and wary.

Her face darkened. “What a pain. Looks like finishing the Quest means dealing with you first.”

Then she said something to someone I couldn’t see.

Whoever it was didn’t seem to agree.

She burst out laughing like she’d lost her mind.

“Fine. Fine. None of you will help me. This stupid System is useless anyway.”

I stared at her in horror. She smiled again. “The Female Lead can’t break character, so the Villainess will.”

“What are you doing?”

“Something good, of course.” She laughed.

Her laugh made my skin crawl.

Then I saw her pick up a glass of water from the table and walk toward me. I struggled and tried to back

away.

The big guy beside me pinned me to the floor.

Chloe smiled, pried my mouth open, and poured the water in.

swallowed some before I could stop myself.

Soon, heat spread through my body.

Chloe looked at the big guy beside me and smiled. “She’s yours. Make it clean. Erase any sign I was here.”

“Yes, Ms. Bennett.”

I tried to run, but the man grabbed me and threw me onto a broken bed in the room. My hand found a

brick.

While he wasn’t looking, I smashed it against his head.

He screamed and clutched his head, collapsing in pain. I ran for the door.

Just as I was about to push it open, the man grabbed my hair from behind.

“You bitch, still trying to run!”

I immediately backed down. “Hey, big guy. A handsome guy like you must have a kind heart, right?”

“Whatever Chloe’s paying you, I’ll double it!”

He sneered at me. “You think I’m stupid?”

Then he slapped me so hard my head spun.

Then my chest went cold. My collar buttons had been torn open.

I struggled, dizzy. Just when I thought I was done for, the man was kicked flying.

Through the blur, I saw Damian lifting me up. His eyes were red. “Evelyn, are you okay? Evelyn!”

“Damian, my head hurts so much!”

Before I passed out, I saw the comments.

[The ML should say it now, “Evelyn’s mine. Got it?“]

[The ML is getting his ass kicked and you’re still making jokes!]

[Don’t worry. If the FL really dies, I’ll watch a two–minute ad to revive her.]

[You guys are too funny with these memes.]

Then everything went dark. When I woke up, the smell of disinfectant hit me.

Damian was there, his eyes red–rimmed. The moment he saw me awake, he called for the doctor.

I pushed through the discomfort and grabbed him. “Is the baby okay?”

His voice was hoarse. “The baby’s fine. Where does it hurt?”

“My head hurts.”

“Doctor! Doctor, my wife is awake!”

I watched his frantic back, and my chest tightened.

I never thought Damian, usually so steady, could panic like this.

Then the comments flooded back.

[Why is the FL so evil and the Villainess so nice?]

[I’m on the Villainess’s side now. The FL is insane!]

[The ML looks like he’s about to cry seeing the Villainess lying there unconscious.]

[Right? I feel like if the doctor gave him any bad news, he’d actually cry.]

[God, please send me a man like that.]

[Wait, am I reading the wrong book? This book is actually called The Male Lead Wins Over the Difficult Villainess?]

[What? I read the wrong book? I laughed.]

[This seems to be a fanfic the author wrote!]

[But honestly, this one’s more my speed!]

[The soft, beautiful Villainess and the cold but devoted ML. I ship them!]

[So I’m not the only one who ships this!]

I was speechless. So they’d been reading the wrong book all along.

And I was the one who got hurt…

I stayed in the hospital for a few days and then went home.

Damian acted like I was made of glass, watching me every second.

That night, I saw Chloe’s arrest on the news.

She was screaming as they took her away. “Why? I’m the Female Lead! Damian, you love me! Me!”

Damian watched the TV, his face dark, his voice low. “I won’t let anyone hurt you again.”

I looked at the sincerity in his eyes and kissed him. “I believe you.”

Nine months later, I gave birth to a little boy. Riley came to visit with Julian.

The moment Damian saw Julian, his face–darkened.

He gave me a wounded look. “Why is he here?”

My brother wasn’t any better. He’d been practically wagging his tail at Riley.

Then he saw Julian and did a full one–eighty.

I wanted to laugh but didn’t dare. Laughing hurt my stitches.

Once I healed, I was going to laugh until my stomach hurt.
