I wanted to see what this “baby girl” everyone in the comments kept talking about actually looked like.

So for once, I actually got up before noon and headed to Damian’s office.

I took Damian’s private elevator straight up to his office.

When Damian’s assistant Ethan saw me, he looked startled for a second before smiling. “Mrs. Sterling, what brings you here?”

I tossed my wavy hair over my shoulder and took off my sunglasses, trying to act all mysterious. “What? Is it a bad time?”

“Not at all! I’ll let the CEO know.”

He reached for the intercom to let Damian know, but I put my hand over his. “No need. I’ll just go in.”

I turned and walked toward Damian’s office.

But before I reached the office, I heard a girl’s sweet voice from inside.

“Mr. Sterling, how can you skip lunch? It’s so bad for your health.”

Then Damian’s voice came out a little hoarse. “Not hungry.”

“I made mac and cheese myself. Please try some, Mr. Sterling!”

Through the crack in the door, I saw a girl in a white dress standing at Damian’s desk, bending forward.

She pushed a pink food container toward him.

Damian rubbed his head and glanced at it.

Whenever I got close to Damian, the comments showed up.

And right now, they were going wild.

[The mac and cheese!]

[If I remember right, it’s not long before the ML and FL are making mac and cheese in the kitchen and having sex at the same time.]

My blood boiled. I was gorgeous and loaded. Fine, I was the villainess.

But even the people who felt sorry for me got told to get lost.

I pushed the door open.

At the sound of my red stilettos clicking on the floor, they both looked up.

Something crossed Damian’s calm eyes when he saw me. Then his voice went flat. “What are you doing here?”

I gave him a slow smile and glanced at the woman beside him.

“Just checking if my husband’s been eating properly.”

The woman gave me a stiff smile.

I looked her over—fair skin, soft features. She wasn’t stunning, but she was pretty in a soft, cute way.

I asked curiously, “And who’s this?”

Damian’s tone didn’t change at all. “Chloe Bennett. The new assistant.”

“Oh, just an assistant?”

I drew the words out, just enough to be pointed.

Chloe looked at Damian nervously. He lifted a hand. “You can go.”

My stomach dropped. Damian hadn’t introduced me.

[Why am I not feeling any chemistry between the ML and FL?]

Then Damian’s voice came. “Did you eat?”

I shook my head. He stood, grabbed his jacket, and pulled it on.

Then he walked over to me. “Come on. Let’s get lunch.”

I reached for his arm out of habit, but Damian said flatly, “At work, keep it professional.”

I looked down at my arm and smiled bitterly.

I was starting to believe what the comments said.
