The Twins She Kept Secret Chapter 07

Silas’s warriors arrived and dragged the attacker away.

He would not survive the week.

Silas insisted on walking me home, but he kept shifting his weight and rolling his shoulder.

I stopped. “Silas, you need to see a healer. Right now.”

He turned his face away, almost embarrassed. “No. I’m fine.”

“Baby… are you worried about me?”

“You still care. I knew it.”

I said nothing.

He grew a little bolder and moved closer. “What the hell was your boyfriend thinking, letting you

walk alone through a place that dangerous?”

“I looked into him. He’s broke. He’s probably after your payout.”

“I transferred five hundred thousand to you. Buy whatever you need. Don’t be frugal.”

My head hurt so badly that I could barely understand what he was saying.

I went inside to get ointment, but he waved me off. “I’m fine. I’ll come see you tonight.”

Then he turned, and I saw the back of his shirt.

A huge patch of dark, wet blood had soaked through the fabric, still spreading.

I screamed.

“Silas! You’re bleeding!”

I grabbed my phone. “I’m calling the pack clinic. We need a healer. We need…”

He caught my wrist. “Baby, this didn’t happen today.”

I froze.

He mumbled, “I made a mistake. The old Alpha punished me.”

I helped peel his shirt away.

The injury was awful. Deep silver-laced whip marks cut across his back, some already scarred over.

My chest tightened.

Silas had told me his grandfather was an old-fashioned Alpha, but the man had always spoiled his grandson.

What had happened?

After I cleaned and bandaged the wounds, Silas put his shirt back on and said he was staying.

I lifted my phone. “No. My boyfriend is coming over.”

He snatched the phone from my hand and snarled, “Your bullshit boyfriend is a liar. He’s gay. He’s planning to fake a marriage with you and steal your money.

To prove it, he shoved the screen in front of my face.

It was a video of Julian kissing another man in a tavern.

My phone buzzed.

Julian had texted me.

Julian:[My ex showed up, so we… yeah. Your ex saw the whole thing. He recorded it too. Is he there? Do you need help?]

I replied: [No.]

Silas watched my face. “Break up with him. Right now.”

Exhausted, I lowered the phone. “Silas. What exactly do you want?”

“Who I form a mate bond with is my choice.”

He looked genuinely confused. “If he’s an option, why can’t it be me? I’m a hundred times better

than him.”

I met his gaze.

“Because I refuse to be your backup forever. One day, you’ll marry a woman with noble blood and make her your Luna. You said you were tired of me. Wasn’t leaving the best thing I could do?”

Silas blinked.

Then his brows drew together.

“When the fuck did I ever say I was tired of you?”
