The Twins She Kept Secret Chapter 02

The Twins She Kept Secret Chapter 02

Three years ago, I was a junior at a community college.

Back then, I worked at a lakeside tavern. One night, a drunk enforcer cornered me, and Silas stepped in.

My spoiled, delicate wolf suddenly went soft for him.

That made every instinct in me scream in warning.

His Beta, Marcus, laughed. “Damn, Alpha. Finally got lonely?”

“I need a woman to help me deal with the elders sooner or later.”

Silas looked me over. “Come with me?”

I shook my head. “I’m working.”

“One million a month.”

My eyes went wide.

One million dollars. I could have worked as a bartender for decades and never made that much.

I was an orphan. I had no parents, and my only family, my grandmother, had silver poisoning. I needed money for her treatment to survive.

I swallowed the lump of pride in my throat. “Deal.”

Our first night together was in a pack house near the border.

He saw how afraid I was and stepped back. “Forget it. You only need to pretend in front of the elders.”

But I was greedy, and I was terrified he would send me away.

So I grabbed him by the neck and kissed him hard. “We’ll learn.”

Gold flashed through his eyes, and he pulled me tight against him.

Practice made perfect. Before long, he started coming to me all the time.

Aside from my monthly allowance, he showered me clothes and jewelry. I sold most of them and used the money to take care of my grandmother.

After Grandma went through the cleansing treatment, Silas officially brought me into the Blackwood Pack.

Everyone thought I would be his future Luna.

Once, a brutal cramp woke me from a dead sleep, and I screamed. Silas carried me out barefoot and woke every medical shifter in the house.

My chest still ached whenever I thought about it.

Aside from Grandma, no one had ever treasured me like that.

He always asked, “Do you like everything I prepared for you?”

Tears blurred my vision. I kissed him and wrapped my arms tight around his neck. “I love it. Thank you, Silas.”

That was when I started getting carried away.

Silas’s attention went straight to my head. I threw little tantrums for no reason, and if another she-wolf looked at him for too long, I wanted to snarl.

At one pack gathering, I stared a little too long at a young Gamma climbing out of the lake, water sliding over his bare chest.

When we got back to our room, Silas pinned me to the floor and pressed my palm against the hard contours of his body.

“Your Alpha is better than all of them, isn’t he?”

He showed no mercy that night.

I ignored him for three whole days.

So the next time he reached for me, I said coldly, “Your muscles have gotten soft. They’re not as firm as they used to be.”

“And your stamina has gone downhill.”

Silas looked devastated. Almost confused.

He had been studying combat techniques and endurance training day and night. At one point, he even tried to drag me to the training grounds, the tips of his ears red as he muttered, “That way you won’t get tired so quickly when we’re together.”

I refused. “Absolutely not.”

That frustrated him. “Elena, you have this backward. Who’s in charge here?”

I leaned closer, my hot breath brushing his throat. “So what if I do?”

He laughed.

I tried to pull away. “If you don’t like it…”

“Like it?” He yanked me back, his voice rough with desire. “Baby, I fucking love it.”

At some point, without realizing it, I had started thinking of him as my mate.

When the medical shifter confirmed I was pregnant, I had imagined his joy. His pride.

The truth was, Silas hadn’t actually done anything wrong.

As an Alpha, he had been generous. He had given me almost everything I ever wanted.

With a single word, he could have made me disappear from the pack entirely.

I had been blinded by his kindness and forgotten place.

I had even dared to imagine becoming his mate.

I had dared to imagine building a family with him.
