The Twin Face That Haunts Me Chapter 10

The second the thought crossed my mind that he’d reach my side, panic flooded my veins, and I wanted to jump up and bolt, still clutching the chair.

Thankfully, Selena’s sweet, honeyed voice rang out in time to shatter the heavy atmosphere. “Tom! Sorry to keep you waiting!”

The footsteps halted at once. I breathed a quiet sigh of relief, lowering the hand pressed to my

mask.

A slender figure swept past me, wrapped in soft floral perfume. Selena dressed casually today, her flowy sundress fluttering in the night wind like a delicate butterfly, launching herself into

Thomas’s arms.

“Baby, why won’t you talk to me? Are you upset? C’mon don’t be mad. I won’t keep you waiting next time. Tell me, do I look pretty tonight?”

Thomas pressed his lips together, silent, staring fixedly at Selena’s face.

She smiled bright, rising onto her tiptoes to brush her fingers through his hair. “Why are you staring like that? Did you miss me that badly…”

He still didn’t utter a word, but instinctively tilted his head away the second her hand reached for

him. Her fingertips grazed his ear and missed entirely. Selena stiffened all over.

I slipped quietly into the living room while their exchange unfolded.

Behind me, Thomas stayed quiet for a long moment before speaking flatly. “I’m suddenly feeling

unwell. I’m heading home now, we can reschedule the movie night.”

I couldn’t make out whatever Selena said in response; I was already too far inside to hear.
