The Tenth Reset Ended Our Marriage Chapter 04

By evening, it had already blown up across the trending feeds.

Several tags shot straight to the top of the trending list.

The posts laid out detailed evidence of how Sloane had seduced Julian back then, along with the photos from yesterday of her wearing Evan’s shirt while provoking me.

The comments were a sea of outrage.

I looked down at my phone and stuffed the last few pieces of clothing into my suitcase.

I had just zipped it shut when the apartment door was kicked open.

Evan stormed in, his eyes bl0odshot.

The second he saw the suitcase in my hand, he kicked it over.

Clothes spilled across the floor.

“You’re taking a trip? You’ve still got the fucking nerve to go traveling right now?”

He grabbed me by the collar and yanked me up from the floor.

“Were you the one who posted all that online? The university expelled Sloane. She just slit her wrist. Are you happy now?!”

Before I could even react, he dragged me all the way downstairs and shoved me into the car.

He drove like a madman and didn’t stop until we reached the downtown medical center.

Outside the emergency room, a nurse came running out in a panic. “The patient has lost too much bl0od. We don’t have enough Rh-negative bl0od in the bank. We need to get more from other hospitals right away.”

“Take hers!” Evan shoved me toward the nurse. “She’s Rh-negative too. Draw her bl0od for Sloane!”

The nurse froze for a second, looking at my pale face.

“But this young woman looks very weak…”

“I said do it!” Evan roared, his eyes red.

I struggled with everything I had and turned to run.

“No! Evan, are you insane? I have severe anemia. If you take my bl0od, I could die!”

He caught up to me in two strides, wrapped an arm around my waist from behind, and dragged me back into the bl0od draw room by force.

“You owe her! You ruined her life. What’s a little bl0od from you?”

He shoved me into a chair.

One hand pinned my shoulder down. The other clamped around my wrist and pressed my forearm flat against the table.

“Do it,” he ordered the doctor.

My bl0od rushed out through the tubing.

I stared at Evan’s face and watched him pin me there with his own hands for another woman, like I was strapped to an instrument of torture.

The warmth drained from my body little by little.

Eventually, I didn’t even have the strength to struggle anymore.

Just before I closed my eyes, I heard the doctor cry out, “Mr. Holt, she’s passed out. We can’t take any more!”

When I woke up, Evan was leaning over me.

“Tessa.” For once, his voice had softened.

“The thing online has gotten too big. Can you post a statement clearing it up?”

“Just say you made it all up because you were jealous that Sloane and I were close. Say she and I only had a normal advisor-student relationship.”

He reached out and touched my face.

“When Sloane gets better, I’ll come back to you.”

“Even the marriage papers I got with her were only for show. From beginning to end, you’re the only wife I’ve ever had.”

I looked at him.

My whole body was limp, and even breathing made my heart ache.

Then I suddenly smiled.

“Okay,” I whispered. “I’ll do it.”

Evan let out a relieved breath.

Just then, his assistant pushed open the door. “Mr. Holt, Miss Shaw is awake.”

Evan shot to his feet and ran out without looking back once.

The second he was gone, I forced myself up, yanked the IV from the back of my hand, and took a cab to the airport.

In the waiting area, I took out my phone and logged into my social media account.

I didn’t post a statement clearing anything up.

Instead, I uploaded the recording of them having sex, along with the photo of the real divorce decree.

11:55 p.m.

There were five minutes left.

In five minutes, Evan’s seven-day limit would be up.

His illness would lift right on time, and he would remember everything that had happened over the past seven days.

But none of that had anything to do with me anymore.
