The Silent Wolf: From Broken Mother to Shadow Queen Chapter 10

The Silent Wolf: From Broken Mother to Shadow Queen Chapter 10

After the trial ended, I bought sunflowers to take to Ellis’s grave.

But Dorian followed.

“I’ll go with you.”

I didn’t refuse.

“Dorian, as his father, I’ll let you visit our pup.”

“But after this, don’t show up in front of me again. I’ll never forgive you.”

Hearing that, his expression shattered.

“Christine…”

I glanced at him and turned to leave.

But he suddenly grabbed me and held on tight, like some feral wolf that had lost all control.

“Christine, please. Come back to me.”

“I’ve already cut Selka out of my life completely. Ended her pregnancy. Cut off her pinky finger too!”

I had zero interest in his explanations. I raised my hand and slapped him hard.

That seemed to snap him back to reality, and he let go.

I stepped back, holding down my fury.

“So all the blame goes to Selka? You had no part in this at all?”

“Ellis could’ve been saved! Those traitors said it themselves, they only wanted the money, never planned to kill him. It was you who let Selka stir up the media. You scared them into killing Ellis!”

“They gave me three days to get the ransom to the drop point. To bring Ellis home.”

“You were willing to trade a hundred million in territory for a peace deal and an estate for Selka, but you wouldn’t spend fifty million to save your own heir.”

“Ellis’s death is on you too!”

My words hit him like another blow, leaving him completely stunned.

“You’re right. My sins are unforgivable.”

He staggered back as he said it, then bowed to me, low and deep.

Then he left. Without looking back.

Watching him disappear into the distance, I took a shaky breath and carried the sunflowers to Ellis’s grave.

I thought I’d never see Dorian’s face again.

But the next day, I stumbled across a livestream.

On screen, he fought to hold himself together, his voice shaking as he confessed.

“I bear responsibility for my pup Ellis’s death.”

“I was unfaithful to my Luna. I failed as an Alpha mate. I took in another Omega and let her torment my fated mate for years.”

“To my pup, I wasn’t a father worth having. I believed Selka’s lies, thought everything was just Christine putting on a show for my attention. I didn’t save him. I lost my son.”

In the crowd, pack members shouted their fury at Dorian. They were beyond disappointed in their own Alpha.

“I’m voluntarily transferring all pack assets and control of the territory to my Luna, Christine.”

With that, he held up the bond dissolution papers I’d sent him.

“I accept Christine’s request to break our bond.”

Then, in front of the entire press, Dorian signed the papers.

When our bond finally severed, it tore through both our wolves like a silver blade cutting flesh.

But somewhere in that pain, I felt something close to peace.

I didn’t have the power to make him pay in blood. But at least Dorian got the punishment he deserved.

Later, while going over the assets with pack officials, I found out even the estate Dorian had traded for Selka had already been transferred to my name.

It had been scrubbed clean. Not a trace of her ever having lived there.

But I still felt like everything Dorian left behind was tainted.

So I sold all of it.

I bought a quiet house near Ellis’s grave in Millhaven.

Slowly, my life found its rhythm again.

The money Dorian left behind was enough that I’d never have to worry about finances again.

To heal from the pain of losing my pup, I took classes: dance, singing, yoga.

When I felt lonely, I went to the cemetery and talked to Ellis.

My days became calm. Free.

Then, three months later, I saw the news about Dorian again. He and Selka had drowned in that same lake.

The autopsy showed they’d been submerged in that cursed water for over three months.

Checking the calendar, I realized Dorian must have done it not long after his confession.

That explained why I’d never crossed paths with either of them while sorting through the assets.

The weight on my chest finally lifted. I bought two bouquets and went to Ellis’s grave.

“Baby, Mommy’s happy now.”

“Your father and Selka went to the spirit realm too. You make sure to protect yourself. Don’t let them bully you anymore, okay?”

I was overthinking it. Ellis would be with the Moon Goddess.

And them? Traitors like that only get cursed to ash.
