The Silent Wolf: From Broken Mother to Shadow Queen Chapter 09

Back at Shadow Moon, Dorian ordered the lake near the pack house drained.

He had every outlet sealed off, and it took two full days to drain out every last drop. Then he ordered a group of wolves to search the dry lakebed.

He said, “Whoever finds that finger gets ten million.”

But it was already too late. They searched for three full days and nights, and found nothing.

Staring at the muddy lakebed, Dorian sat slumped on the shore. Frozen. Unmoving.

He didn’t know what to do anymore.

Meanwhile, in Millhaven, I’d spent days lying in the pack clinic, thinking it all through.

In the end, I decided to call Dorian.

When my name lit up his screen, his voice carried a flicker of hope as he asked carefully.

“Christine, what do you need?”

I swallowed the howl building in my throat and told him what I’d figured out.

“Ellis’s camp schedule was pack confidential. Do you know how those Crimson Thorn Pack traitors managed to target your heir specifically?”

Hearing my question, Dorian’s breathing turned heavy and ragged on the other end.

I kept going.

“Selka told them Ellis’s schedule. She specifically made sure to point out he was your only blood heir, that you’d definitely pay to get him back. Now…”

Before I could even finish, Dorian’s fury exploded.

He threw his phone across the room. The call cut off.

Honestly, before telling him the truth, I’d hesitated for a long time. Did he even deserve to know?

In the end, I realized the enforcers would punish the traitors. But the only one who could settle the score with Dorian was me.

I’d sworn to the Moon Goddess that Dorian would get exactly what he deserved.

And getting him and Selka to tear each other apart? This was the perfect chance.

So I finally told him.

What happened next proved I’d made the right call.

The second he learned the truth, Dorian pulled a gun loaded with silver bullets straight out of his safe.

Ever since being brought back from Hawaii, Selka had been kept locked up at the estate.

She spotted Dorian approaching through the glass and ran out happily to greet him.

“Dorian, I knew you wouldn’t abandon me and our pups!”

But the moment she opened the door, Dorian drew the gun.

He grabbed her by the throat and slammed her against the wall.

“Tell me every single word you said to those traitors!”

“You did all of this. You told them Ellis’s camp schedule. Then, right when we needed to pay the ransom, you leaked it to the media.”

“You even told everyone the warning calls to headquarters were scams. What did you actually want?!”

Feeling the cold barrel loaded with silver press against her forehead, Selka screamed.

“Dorian, I love you! I just mentioned it to someone by accident. I really was just trying to help find Ellis!”

“Still lying!”

The veins in Dorian’s neck bulged. His eyes flashed gold, his face flushed red with pure Alpha fury.

The next second, he slammed her down onto the ground.

“I swear it wasn’t on purpose, Dorian, believe me!”

Selka knelt on the ground, begging him, frantically trying to wrap her arms around his legs.

But he grabbed her arm and pinned her face-down against the floor.

Even then, Selka kept begging.

“Everything I did was for your own good! Please don’t hurt me, I’m still carrying your pups! Didn’t you always want daughters?”

Dorian’s jaw clenched so tight his teeth ground together, his knuckles white around the gun.

He said nothing. He raised the weapon and aimed it at her pinky finger.

Crack.

The gunshot was deafening.

Selka’s body convulsed instantly, and blood gushed from between her legs.

“You don’t get to talk about pups. If it weren’t for you, Christine and I would still have a whole family. Ellis wouldn’t be dead. Christine wouldn’t have had to end our second pup’s life.”

“You’re the one who destroyed a perfectly good mate bond. You’re the real culprit here. I’m not stupid enough to let you die easy.”

“This shot is only a fraction of what Ellis went through.”

With that, he hauled Selka, nearly passed out, up off the floor and drove her to the pack clinic.

The whole way there, no matter how she begged, even dropping to her knees at the clinic door and slamming her head down until it bled, Dorian showed no mercy at all.

His wolf sat cold and dead inside him as he ordered the doctor to terminate her pregnancy immediately.

When the Elder Council held the trial for the case, I saw Dorian in the courtroom.

When the Head Elder sentenced the two Crimson Thorn Pack traitors to death by fire, I nearly passed out.

The wolf inside me howled right along with me.

Justice.

Ellis, are you watching? Mommy’s getting you your revenge.

Everyone who hurt you, including your father, I’m going to make them all pay.
