The Senator’s Daughter Is Now the CEO They Need Chapter 24

My father stood on stage giving a speech, his voice booming with excitement.

He described me as the pride of the Davis family, a perfect blend of intelligence and tradition.

The lights were bright, reflecting off a sea of champagne glasses. Every face wore a practiced, polite smile.

When it was my turn to go on stage, the doors to the banquet hall were suddenly thrown open.

The music hadn’t yet stopped when a shrill cry cut through the room.

A haggard-looking woman in cheap clothes burst in, followed by a stocky, brutish-looking man.

The woman’s eyes darted through the crowd before landing on me.

“Chloe!” she shrieked. “How can you be so heartless? Now that you’ve latched onto a rich family, you refuse to even acknowledge your own poor relatives?”

A wave of whispers rippled through the hall.

The smile on my father’s face froze.

That woman was my surrogate mother, Sarah.

She wept loudly and pushed the man beside her forward.

“This is your biological father! He’s dying and just wants to see you one last time. Are you really going to deny him that? Have you forgotten who gave birth to you?”

The man reeked of alcohol and sweat. When he grinned, he revealed a mouthful of yellow teeth and reached out to grab me.
