The S-Rank Wolf They Failed to See Chapter 07

“So funny. You think I don’t want to sit around like Ayla, doing absolutely nothing?”

“I can’t.”

“The second I take a break, you wrinkle your forehead and start mocking me.”

My mom fell silent. All I could hear was her rough breathing on the other end, like she was barely holding

something in.

“Anything else? If not, I’m hanging up.”

“Nina!”

“Because of what you did, your sister has depression now. And Ethan… Ethan can never have children…”

Here we go again.

I remembered when I was little, every time my sister fell or got hurt, my mom would find some way to blame

One day I got held back after class to clean the training grounds.

When I got home, my mom was cradling Ayla, who was crying.

Before I could even ask what happened, my mom whipped around and glared at me.

“This is all your fault! If you’d come home on time, your sister wouldn’t have burned herself with hot

water!”

I stood there completely confused. I didn’t even get a chance to speak.

Then she hit me with a stick, and I went down.

I cut her off coldly,

“My sister has depression because those gossiping relatives spread the story around.”

“Ethan can never have children because she maimed him.”

“And you still want to pin everything on me like you always did?”

“Not a chance.”

My mom’s teeth ground together with rage.

“Do you have any conscience at all?”

“We raised you. Gave you everything. And now that the family’s in trouble, you won’t lift a finger?”

“Fed me? Clothed me?”

I let out a bitter laugh.

“Good food was never for me. Anything good got gulped down by my sister in one gulp.”

“And the presents, don’t even get me started. All of them were for her. Was there ever anything for me?”

“That’s because you always came late, so your sister took them…”

“Right. You always brought the gifts out when she was there. Then you pretended you just mixed me up with

her so she could take them.”

My mom kept making excuses. “Later I bought you and your sister a cake each, didn’t I? You just didn’t like

it…”

“Right. Out of all the cakes you could have picked, you chose the one I’m allergic to.”

Tears blurred my vision.

I was about to wipe them away when a cherry blossom petal floated down and landed in my hand.

I suddenly realized there was nothing left to say to them.

Why was I wasting my time on people who didn’t matter? Not when I was surrounded by something this

beautiful.

“Fine. This is it.”

“From now on, we’re strangers.”

But my mom didn’t want to be strangers.

She wanted to be my enemy.

A friend forwarded me a post. My mom had turned the whole story around and made it look like I was the

one who’d plotted everything.

In the video, she held her “depressed” daughter close and sobbed.

“Nina told us she’d always wanted to retake the awakening trials and she wanted to aim for first in the

alliance.”

“But she didn’t want to waste her current spot, so she asked us to let her sister Ayla go in her place.”

“We never imagined she was so calculating.”

‘She secretly transferred her records away without telling any of us…”

Think about it-would any parent send the younger daughter to take the older one’s place? I love both my girls. Of course I’d be thrilled for Nina to go to the academy too.

“And besides, this is illegal”

Not many people believed her at first.

But Ayla’s “depression” earned my mom a lot of sympathy.

My mom also posted screenshots showing how they’d supposedly treated me well.

I clicked on them. They were posts where they’d bought two gifts and tagged both me and Ayla to come pick

them up.

Whether I actually got them nobody cared.

The internet turned against me. They tracked down my social media accounts and bombarded me with

curses.

Even a few old friends who spoke up for me got dragged into it.

They asked me what to do.

I told them, “Do nothing.”

“Let it escalate.”.

“Let them bring the truth to everyone.
