The Rejected Luna’s Sweet Revenge Chapter 04

The Rejected Luna’s Sweet Revenge Chapter 04

In front of a hall full of guests, I tore everything open and exposed all their filthy secrets for the world to see.

In the chaos of shattered glasses and overturned plates, Zachary dragged me aside, his eyes full of exhaustion and irritation.

“Did you really have to do this? Do you want everyone to suffer because of you?”

“Yes.” I lifted my chin, unyielding. “If I can’t live peacefully, neither will you.”

But that still wasn’t enough.

I used every connection my father ever had.

I gathered signatures and filed public accusations, exposing all of Zachary’s dirty dealings from the past.

I wanted to drag him down from his pedestal, turn him back into the worthless bastard son he once was.

Reality crushed that fantasy quickly.

He was now a respected, powerful Alpha, an untouchable figure.

Every complaint vanished without a ripple. Instead, all of us who reported him were accused of slandering an Alpha.

The others panicked and pushed all the blame onto me.

I was taken away by the pack enforcers.

Zachary visited me the day I was arrested.

The dungeon was dim and damp. He stood outside the iron bars, immaculate in his tailored suit, his tone calm but icy.

“Rue, you cannot bring me down. I’m no longer who I used to be.”

He paused, as if showing mercy.

“If you admit your mistakes and promise to stop troubling Savannah, you will still be my Luna. Everything will return to how it was. For the sake of the past, I won’t treat you badly.”

I only laughed.

I was young and full of pride, convinced that dignity mattered more than life itself.

I cursed him to his face, vowed I would rather die than bow my head.

Maybe my words cut him, or maybe he truly wanted to teach me a lesson, the days in that dungeon were far worse than I ever imagined.

The rot, the damp, the cold metal shackles, the sour, hardened scraps they called food, all of it nearly destroyed my will to live.

Just when I was breaking, he suddenly ordered them to release me.

Outside, everything seemed unchanged. Except… the way everyone looked at me was strange.

Only later did I learn the truth.

My father had rushed back from the pack border the moment he heard I was in trouble.

He pleaded with Zachary outside the pack house for hours.

When Zachary refused to answer, my father still wouldn’t leave.

Zachary ordered warriors to drive him away. My father refused again. He shifted into his wolf and fought all of them.

He died on the stone steps outside the pack house, a brutal death, trading his life for attention, creating enough public outcry to force Zachary to let me go.

That news ripped the soul right out of me.

I stopped fighting. Stopped caring about Zachary or Savannah.

I curled up in my room like an empty puppet, drowning in grief and guilt, my recklessness had cost my father his life.

Meanwhile, the Obsidian Pack celebrated.

They hung lanterns and ribbons everywhere, preparing for Savannah to become the new Luna.

Only my home was silent. Silent like a grave.

I slept for days, drifting in and out of awareness, until I opened my eyes to find many people around me.

They said I was pregnant. I felt nothing.

Perhaps out of guilt, Zachary tended to me himself for a few days.

But the tenderness didn’t last. Soon enough, he returned to Savannah’s side.

When they sealed the mate bond, the pack house erupted in celebration.

I had no intention of watching.

But Savannah came to my room.

Maybe she wanted to provoke me, adding salt to my wounds. Because she told me the truth about my father’s death.

She said, “Your father didn’t have to die. I just thought you needed to learn a lesson, so I had Zachary stop him from meeting the elders…”

“He had no choice but to gamble his life just to get an audience with the Alpha King. That proud old Alpha… thrown out like a dead rat afterward. Tell me, whose fault do you think that is?”

Savannah did succeed in provoking me.

Her words were the final straw that snapped what was left of my sanity.

In a daze, I set the curtains on fire. The flames spread instantly, devouring everything.

Savannah panicked and tried to run.

But I clamped my hands around her, one thought pounding in my mind: Let’s die together.

When Zachary burst into the fire, smoke blurred my vision.

I couldn’t see his expression, only that he grabbed Savannah without a second of hesitation and ran.

At that moment, a burning beam crashed down on my legs.

Pain tore through me. Warm blood pooled beneath me. The child I had never cared about gone in that instant.

My leg shattered. My baby died. And whatever will to live remained in me, scattered like ash.

But I didn’t die. They controlled the flames in time.

I was dragged out half-conscious.

Everyone said I had gone mad. They called me the crazy Luna.

But I knew very clearly, I wasn’t mad.

I only stabbed Zachary with a silver blade when he came to see me.

That was all. But my father paid with his life.

They said I committed intentional assault, an even greater crime.

I was thrown back into the dungeon.

This time, I faced formal trial and sentencing.

For intentional harm, I received three years in werewolf prison. Soon after, the bond-breaking deal arrived.

Zachary finally got what he wanted.

He discarded me completely and crowned Savannah as his Luna.

In prison, my mind drifted in and out like fog.

Days blurred together.

Until my father’s former Beta, Grant, brought me a letter, with my father’s last message to me.

There were only a few words on the letter.

[Rue, no matter what, live.]

Seeing my father’s familiar handwriting was like a thin beam of light piercing the darkness inside me.

For his final wish, I forced myself to eat, to rest, to live.

Because of a reduction policy, I was released early.

With the little money I had, I returned to my father’s old pack territory and opened a small dessert shop.

Life was hard, but I remembered his words.

I lived. Lived to someday avenge him. Lived to see Zachary and Savannah burn in their own hell.

My thoughts drifted away from the heavy past. Mountain wind brushed by, cool and crisp.

I smiled faintly at the gravestone and whispered, “Dad, I’m leaving now. I’ll visit again next time.”

I picked up the empty basket and turned, limping down the path.

But after only a few steps, my heart clenched for no reason.

Something made me look back.

Beneath the old tree at the entrance of the pack cemetery, Zachary stood there silently.

I didn’t know how long he had been watching me.
