The Rejected Luna’s Sweet Revenge Chapter 03

The Rejected Luna’s Sweet Revenge Chapter 03

Zachary was in a hotel suite bed, tangled up with a stranger, an Omega I had never seen before.

For a split second, it felt as though the world froze around me.

I stood rooted to the doorway, unable to speak, unable to breathe.

Helplessness, confusion, betrayal… all of it crashed over me like a bucket of ice water.

My wolf writhed in pain, unable to make a sound beneath the weight of his betrayal.

Zachary, however, was calm. Almost detached.

“I planned to tell you in a few days,” he said. “But since you’ve seen it, this works too. I’m going to make Savannah my Luna.”

He said it with the casual ease of announcing tomorrow’s breakfast menu.

I should have agreed. In this world, powerful men having lovers was nothing unusual.

Even my father had a few affairs when he was young.

For someone of Zachary’s status, cheating was almost… expected.

So I swallowed my fury, forced myself to stay rational, and said, “You can have a lover. But you can’t reject me or sever our mate bond.”

“You know what happens if you reject me. My wolf will weaken, and I’ll die. How can you even consider rejecting me?”

I thought that after nearly a decade of surviving together, fighting side by side, bleeding side by side, he would at least care about how I felt.

But he didn’t.

“No. We must sever the mate bond. I’m giving Savannah the title of Luna. She will be the pack’s Luna.”

His refusal was sharp, cold, and absolute.

In that moment, anger drowned whatever reason I had left.

I lunged at him, pounding my fists against him, screaming hoarsely, demanding how he could throw away my dignity like this, how he could erase ten years of bond, how our fated mate bond could mean less to him than some Omega who appeared out of nowhere.

Zachary simply stood there and let me hit him, expression calm, almost clinical.

But when I finally snapped and spat out the words “filthy pair” and “shameless couple,” his eyes changed.

His hand shot out and closed around my throat.

“Enough,” he snarled. “Savannah is not just some random she-wolf. She is the only woman I have ever wanted to be mate with.”

“The only woman you’ve ever wanted to be mate with? What about me?”

His gaze settled on my pale face, still calm, still emotionless.

“Rue, you were the most suitable option when I weighed my risks.”

“Back then, danger surrounded me. I wouldn’t let Savannah be exposed, so I needed a Luna in the open. That’s the only reason I didn’t reject you.”

“All the affection I showed you… was just to make the façade convincing.”

His words were a blade, slicing straight through the beliefs I had clung to for years.

So our so-called shared hardship had been nothing but a calculated strategy.

All that tenderness, that devotion, were just acts performed for the enemies lurking in the shadows.

The mate bond I had treasured, the bond I thought unbreakable… I had been nothing more than a shield for the real woman he wanted to protect.

I stood there numb, struggling to absorb the truth, while Zachary wrapped an arm protectively around Savannah and escorted her out.

He meant every word he had said.

If he promised Savannah would become his Luna, then he would spare no effort to make it happen.

He began planning her Luna coronation with grand, gaudy extravagance.

He took her to every major Alpha meeting and every Alpha ball.

He introduced her to everyone, lavishing her with even more public affection than he ever gave me, bold, unrestrained, deliberate.

In front of others, they were inseparable.

A reunited first love, finally together after hardship, two fated souls destined to shine.

And what about me?

Years of loyalty, sacrifice, and love… All wiped away in a single moment?

Was I supposed to hide in the shadows, watching them bask in the spotlight?

I refused.

If I suffered ten degrees of pain, they would at least feel five.

So on the day Zachary attended the Alpha Ball with Savannah on his arm, I went too.
