The One He Left Behind Chapter 06

“Sienna.”

It was Killian. Three months after I left, I was hearing his voice again.

My writing hand paused. I pulled myself together and kept filling out the ledger. “Hello, Alpha. What do you

need?”

Killian drew in a sharp breath.

His voice sounded rough. “You left.”

“They told me you’d taken a new mate.”

I replied absently. “That’s right.”

“I went to your old pack. You weren’t there.”

I stayed quiet for a long moment before answering. “If you have no official business, I’m ending this call.”

“Stop pretending you don’t care,” he let out a cold chuckle. “My mating ceremony is next week. For all the

years you served me, I’m inviting you to come.”

My breath caught in my throat.

A wave of nausea twisted my stomach.

He was marrying someone else, yet he wanted me there to watch?

He was nothing more than humiliating me.

In that instant, Killian Sterling shrank small in my eyes.

The last traces of hurt I’d held for him faded away completely.

“I can’t make it next week.”

His tone turned urgent. “Why not?”

“I’m holding my own ceremony then too.”

I ended the call and let out a long breath.

A soft chime rang from the shop entrance.

Rowan stood there holding a bouquet of red roses. Dressed in a white linen shirt, he stood bathed in soft

light, and my heart skipped a beat.

I once believed I could never love again after everything with Killian and our failed bond.

It seemed I had underestimated myself.

Rowan fully expected me to turn down the roses as usual. He walked straight to the counter vase and

changed the water with practiced ease.

I stepped forward, plucked one rose from his arms, and looked up at him with a smile.

“Rowan. Let’s give this a real try. A serious one.”
