The Night Before I Became His Wife, the Night He Became a Father Chapter 11

The Night Before I Became His Wife, the Night He Became a Father Chapter 11

That night, I forgot how I got home.

All I remembered was how satisfying it felt to finally say every word I had been holding back.

From beginning to end, Damian, Nina, and I had all spent too much of that relationship lying to ourselves.

Later, I heard from Miles that Nina had gone to make a scene outside Davenport Group headquarters.

She drew in a crowd of reporters.

She claimed Damian had used her, slept with her, and then tossed her aside.

After the story first hit the internet, it drew a lot of sympathy from women.

People rallied around Nina, and Damian fell from his pedestal as the handsome, wealthy billionaire heir. Almost overnight, his reputation in New York City was in ruins.

Many wealthy heiresses put him on their absolute do-not-date list.

Even Davenport Group’s stock plunged for several straight trading days.

But then an anonymous user claiming to be a nurse made a post, laying out every detail of the chaos outside the emergency room that day, when Damian and Nina had almost killed me.

After that, public opinion flipped completely.

Nina instantly became a social pariah, harassed so badly online that she did not even dare step outside her rented apartment.

As for Damian, his father shipped him off to Europe.

But he was still their only son.

I never expected a family like the Davenports to disown their own heir for the sake of morality or justice.

There was only a rumor that when he left for Europe, he packed nothing in his suitcases except the framed memorial portrait.

As for the child Nina had carried around like a prop, no one knew where Damian had taken him.

The boy was pitiful, but I was not a saint. He had nothing to do with me.

Besides, my life now was unbelievably busy.

I did properly learn how to swim.

And my relationship with Miles took off like a rocket.

Within six months, he officially made his feelings clear.

He got down on one knee and offered me a diamond ring and roses. At the same time, like an adorably clueless fool, he shoved his bank cards, account documents, the deed to his house, his car keys, and a whole pile of other random things into my arms.

Because of that, his teammates made fun of him for years.

So, you see, the difference between being loved and not being loved

is actually very obvious.

Money may not be everything.

But roses do not bloom on empty promises.
