The Moretti Family’s Useless Eighth Daughter Was Actually a Hidden Powerhouse Chapter 09

Alessandro opened the agreement immediately.

He scanned one page, and his expression changed.

“He buried cross–ownership and debt–transfer provisions in this agreement.”

His voice turned cold.

“Once the agreement took effect, a huge amount of Moretti Holdings‘ debt would be transferred into several

overseas shell companies. The tax obligations and asset ownership would be tangled together on purpose.

The directors and beneficial controllers of those shell companies are all Damian’s personal assistants and

nominees.”

I snapped my fingers.

“Exactly. This isn’t a legitimate acquisition. He’s using Moretti Holdings as a money–laundering channel.”

I looked at Damian.

“If Dad had signed today, you would have dragged the Moretti family under with you. But you would have

been investigated by federal authorities for cross–border money laundering, securities fraud, and illegal asset

transfers. That’s why you deliberately left a flaw in the authorization chain. That notarized certification

wouldn’t survive a proper forensic review.”

I tapped the table lightly.

“If anything went wrong, you could turn around and claim that the person who signed never had Falcone

Holdings‘ actual board authorization. The entire agreement would have been unauthorized from the start.”

I held his gaze.

“You wanted to swallow Moretti’s assets while leaving yourself a back door to deny responsibility for the

deal. You deliberately sabotaged the authorization documents and thought you could walk away with the

entire Moretti Group for free?”

Damian collapsed back into his chair.

In less than ten minutes, I’d stripped away every card he held, every escape route, and every calculation he

thought no one could see through.

“Matteo.”

Alessandro drew a deep breath.

The Wall Street shark was back.

“Notify every broker and every partner we can still reach in North America and Europe. We strike back now.”

Matteo immediately pulled out his phone.

This time, the encrypted line that had been dead connected.

I had restored it while taking apart the firewall.

“Dump every position connected to Falcone Holdings. Use every legal channel available. I want the entire market to know Falcone’s funding chain is in trouble before sunrise.”

Enzo gave a cold laugh and headed for the conference–room doors.

He kicked them open.

Outside, Damian’s security detail had already been subdued.

The private security team the Morettis had rushed into position now controlled the entire top floor.

“Damian.”

Enzo rolled his neck.

“Your people are all in the underground garage. They’re safe.”

The situation had completely reversed in a matter of minutes.

The Morettis had gone from prey at the edge of a cliff to the ones running the room.

And it had all happened because the useless daughter mocked by New York’s entire underworld for more

than a decade had finally stood up from the sofa.

Damian’s remaining bodyguards sensed the shift and instinctively reached for the weapons at their waists.

Enzo’s people immediately surrounded them.

“Keep your hands off your guns. Don’t make me say it twice.”

Enzo’s voice was ice–cold.

The men exchanged glances and slowly lowered their hands.

I walked back to the metal cart and picked up the surgical blade.

The edge flashed beneath the ceiling lights.

“Damian.”

I turned and pointed the tip at him, my voice even gentler than his had been.

“Should we renegotiate who exactly has to leave a hand behind?”

Damian stared at the blade. His body started to tremble.

His perfectly styled hair had fallen completely apart, and several strands stuck to his sweat–soaked

forehead. He looked nothing like the man he had been ten minutes earlier.

“Alessia, what kind of monster are you?”

He slumped in the chair, and for the first time, his voice held real despair.

“Damian, that’s a very rude thing to say.”

I looked down and spun the blade in my hand.

“I’m the sweetest, most useless daughter in the Moretti family.”
