Bella bit her lip so hard her perfectly made-up face twisted in rage.

She pointed a finger at Leo. “So what if you’re connected to the Thorne family? This little mutt doesn’t even have Alpha blood! Damian, this woman has been lying to you!”

Leo was frightened and hid in Damian’s arms, sobbing quietly.

Damian gently patted our son’s back, his voice as cold as ice. “Miss Bella, slandering the heir of a powerful Alpha has consequences. Would you like me to have my Beta send you a copy of his bloodline certificate, authenticated by our pack elders?”

Asher suddenly grabbed Bella’s wrist. “That’s enough! Let’s go.”

“Let go of me!” Bella shook him off and pointed at me. “Lily Vance, why you? Why do you always have to steal my spotlight, steal everything that belongs to me? Why did you have to come back? Why?”

I watched her hysterical meltdown and, for the first time, felt a pang of pity for her.

She stole my toys, my clothes, even my fated mate, thinking it would prove she was better than me.

But she would never understand that what is truly yours can never be stolen.

I didn’t want to waste any more words on her. I took Damian’s hand, and we left.
