I turned to Marcus, my voice shaking with rage. “Your daughter?”

Marcus’s face went white. “That was all in the past…”

“The past?” I laughed, a broken sound, and stepped closer to him. “Fine. Let’s say it’s in the past. I won’t bring it up. But what about just now? When this pack was condemning me in your name, insulting my mother, did either of you think to say a single word for me? When Nathan Vance hit me, did you even think of stopping him?”

“Or was everything they did tacitly approved by you?”

Logan tried to interrupt. “Lily, that was…”

“What?” My voice was as cold as ice. “My mother was barely in her grave when you brought Bella home. She wore my clothes, used my things. Did any of you say a word against it?”

My father staggered back, his lips trembling. “If your mother knew you were acting like this…”

“Don’t you dare mention my mother!” I cut him off sharply. “You are not worthy!”

“And my name is Seraphina Thorne. Lily Vance is dead. You built a tombstone for her yourselves. Have you forgotten?”

Just then, Alpha Alistair stepped forward.

He walked to my side, his eyes sweeping over the pale faces of the Vance father and son.

“Alpha Vance, I think I need to remind you of something.”

Alistair’s voice was calm but held an unshakeable authority. “Seraphina is my daughter now. After her mother passed, I was the one who paid for her education, gave her a position in my pack, and took care of her. Elias and I were the ones who celebrated her birthday with her every year. By the grace of the Moon Goddess and the laws of the packs, she has only one father—me. And only one brother—Elias.”

Hearing those words, a wave of courage and strength washed over me.
