The room was dead silent.

“Who hit her? I don’t want to ask a second time. Unless some family here doesn’t want to do business on the West Coast anymore.”

My uncle’s hand trembled as he picked up a teacup and set it down again.

One aunt opened her mouth but no sound came out.

The other aunt looked down, pretending to fix her clothes. After about thirty seconds, she said with a pained expression, “Brother, just admit it. Don’t drag the whole pack down with you!”

The power of the Stormcrest Pack was well known. Many families in the Crescent Moon Pack depended on them for business. No one wanted to offend the powerful Alpha standing before them. The “elders” who had just been ganging up on me were now scattering like rats.

“Was it you?” Alistair glanced at my uncle.

My uncle’s hand trembled even more. But his pride was still intact. He steadied himself and said through gritted teeth, “It was a misunderstanding. We’re all family. I was just trying to discipline a disrespectful child. Alpha Thorne, please don’t take offense.”

Hearing this, my dear brother Elias let out a cold laugh. “When did a child of the Stormcrest Pack need an outsider like you to discipline her?”

His words made it clear he had no intention of claiming kinship with my uncle.

My uncle, realizing that flattery was useless, suddenly changed his tone and pointed at me, shouting, “Don’t think you can act all high and mighty just because you found a rich pack! So what if I hit you? It’s my right to teach a little brat like you a lesson!”

“You’re just like your mother—no class at all. Next time I see you, it won’t be just one slap!”

My brother knew how much my mother meant to me. His face darkened at the insult. He took out his phone, made a quick call, and spoke a few words.

Soon, the hotel manager appeared with a team of security guards.

“Alpha Thorne, my apologies. This was our oversight. Who is causing the disturbance?”
