The day of the trial arrived.

I went to Council Court, but I didn’t say much.

Adrian, my Council Attorney, presented every piece of evidence and explained the entire truth on my behalf.

Kael, Mira, and Selena stood in the defendant’s seats. The arrogance they once carried was gone

Kael kept his head lowered. He didn’t even dare look at me.

Mira cried until her makeup was completely ruined, repeating the same words over and over.

“I regret it.”

“I really regret it.”

But even until the very end, Selena was still trying to push all the blame onto Caden.

She claimed everything had been his idea. That he was the one who told her what to do.

Caden sat in the gallery.

His face was pale, and he remained silent the entire time.

The final verdict was delivered.

Justice was served.

Kael was sentenced to eighteen months in prison for participating in the creation and spread of the illusion-created footage.

Mira received a one-year sentence for assisting in its distribution and damaging my reputation.

Selena, as one of the main participants, was sentenced to two years in prison.

As for Caden, his actions did not qualify as a criminal offense.

However, he had violated the professional standards required of a Council Attorney and caused severe emotional harm to the victim during the incident.

His Council Attorney license was revoked.

He was also ordered to pay emotional damages and issue a public apology to me.

After the trial ended, I walked out of the doors of Council Court.

The moment I stepped down the stairs, a familiar voice called out behind me.

“Lyra!”

I stopped.

Caden ran after me.

His voice trembled, filled with desperation and pleading.

“Council Attorney Caden. Is there something else you need?”

He rushed in front of me, blocking my path.

His eyes were red.

His beard was untrimmed, making him look exhausted and defeated.

“Lyra, I know I was wrong.”

“I really do.”

“I lost my job. I lost my reputation. I have nothing left now.”

“Can you.., please not ask for the compensation?”

“Can you withdraw the public apology too?”

“I’ve already fallen this far. If I lose the last bit of dignity I have left, what am I supposed to do?”

I stared at him.

And suddenly, everything felt ridiculous.

Even now, the thing he cared about most was his own image.

“Caden.”

My voice was calm.

“You said you would have no dignity left?”

“When you forced me to admit there was something wrong with me, did you ever think about what

future would look like?”

“You knew that illusion-created footage was fake. You knew I was being framed. But you still chose

to let me take all the blame.”

“When you let Selena move into my house, did you ever think about how I would feel?”

“When you stood on their side, did you ever think about how hopeless I would feel?”

Caden opened his mouth.

But no words came out.

I looked at him and continued.

“Do you really think you’re the victim here?”

“No.”

“You are simply facing the consequences of what you chose to do.”

“The compensation stays.”

“The apology stays.”

“And from now on, don’t appear in front of me again.”

“I don’t want to see you anymore.”

After saying that, I walked around him and got into Adrian’s car.

The door closed.

The window rolled up.

Caden’s desperate shouts were left outside.

The car started moving.

I watched the streets pass by through the window.

The city that had once suffocated me finally seemed to regain its colors.

One month later.

I resigned from my old job and officially joined Adrian’s Pack Law Firm.

I changed my hairstyle.

I moved into a new home.

And I started rebuilding a life that belonged only to me.

There was no more Caden.

No more Kael.

No more people using family, friendship, or love to control my choices.

Sometimes, I still saw news about them.

Valerie failed her background review and lost the future she had planned for herself.

After months of pressure and setbacks, she eventually left her position.

After Kael finished his sentence, no organization was willing to hire him because of his criminal

record.

As for Caden, after losing his Council Attorney license, he returned to his family’s small business and lived a life completely different from the one he once had.

Everyone who had pushed me into despair was finally paying the price for their own choices.

The best revenge was never hatred.

It was living a life better than theirs.

On the weekend, I went to a flower shop alone.

I bought a bouquet of sunflowers.

The sunlight was warm and bright.
