The Mafia’s Stand-In Bride Chapter 07

The Mafia’s Stand-In Bride Chapter 07

I walked in with a cold face, and glanced at the lock-it was split into pieces, obviously pried open

by force.

Maya had her arm linked through Layla’s, ignoring me walking in, and chattered and laughed with

Layla.

She was clearly trying to show off how good her relationship with Layla was on purpose,

intentionally making Layla crack up laughing.

Layla held her hand too, praising her nonstop.

Both of them were terrible actors, their intent to piss me off was way too obvious.

Too bad it didn’t work on me at all.

It just made them look ridiculous.

Like a pair of clowns jumping around on a stage.

“Oh! Lily, you’re home! Layla and I were having such a good chat, we didn’t even notice you come in,” Maya said, pretending she’d just realized I was there.

I didn’t react at all.

I just stared straight at the two of them.

“Breaking into my apartment without asking, I can call the police and report you for trespassing.”

Maya put on her understanding act. “Layla’s just a family elder coming to check on you! We’re all family, why would we go all the way to calling it trespassing?”

“Maya, don’t waste your breath on this ungrateful, rude girl,” Layla tugged Maya back.

what’s one

“She’s gotten used to Lorenzo spoiling her, she’s been disrespecting elders for ages, more thing? I said it from the start, this orphan trash doesn’t deserve to be Lorenzo’s wife.

“What a huge wedding we had, even if there was an accident, she should have been sensible, put the big picture first, and stepped aside on her own.

“But what does she do? She throws a fit and wants a divorce?

“Lorenzo is this good, how many women in New York want to be his wife? I don’t know where she

gets the nerve to act this crazy.”

I listened to Layla’s speech quietly, a mocking smirk tugging at my lips.

Like mother, like son. They even said the exact same garbage.

As for Lorenzo, he was just sitting on the couch this whole time, arms crossed, staring at me coldly.

Like he was saying, “See? It’s not just me. Everyone thinks you’re being unreasonable.)

Maya threw more fuel on the fire right then.

“It’s all my fault. I lost my head and fell for him… I never meant to give the wrong flash drive. Lily, if you’re mad at me, yell at me, don’t divorce Lorenzo over this tiny thing.”

I laughed.

“What the hell are you? When did I give you permission to speak here?

“We’re both women, I see your little game clear as day. Some people are too dumb to see it, but you don’t need to put on an act for me.

“Why are you fake-pitying me? You want me and Lorenzo to divorce more than anything, so you can take my place, right?”

Maya froze up at my words, her eyes filling with tears instantly.

“You really got me wrong, I never would have thought that…”

She leaned into Lorenzo’s side. “Lorenzo, you know I haven’t done anything out of line this whole time. You have to believe me, I’m not that manipulative.”

Lorenzo reached out and patted the back of her hand, then snapped at me.

“Lily, is this how you talk to your elders? Where did your manners go? Apologize to my mom and Maya right now. Or we really will get a divorce, and you’ll never get to come back to me.”

My mocking smile got wider.

My eyes swept over all three of them, then I said, one word at a time.

“Perfect. I can’t wait to get this divorce over with. You’re the one who wronged me, Lorenzo. You want me to apologize? Go to hell.”

Lorenzo lunged at me, hand raised to hit me.

I didn’t back down.

I slapped him first, hard.
