The Mafia Don’s Contract Wife Chapter 11

I started to turn my head away, but he gently turned my 

face back toward him. 

A moment later, warmth touched my lips as the scent 

of fir and clean soap washed over me. 

My heart skipped a violent beat. 

Vincenzo pulled back quickly, his voice low and hoarse, “Serena, try to accept me, will you?” 

I held his gaze for a long moment. Then I leaned in and 

kissed him. 

Vincenzo froze for just a second before taking control. 

Thursday brought my final work commitment–an 

anniversary gala for a high–end jewelry brand, at 

booking made months ago. 

Vincenzo canceled his meeting to come with me. 

When the brand learned he was attending, they rearranged the seating chart overnight. We were moved to the center of the front row, with an extra chair added just for him. 

Vivian laughed meaningfully over the phone when she heard, “Well, now the whole world will see what your husband looks like.” 

“He’s been photographed before.” 

“It’s not the same,” Vivian argued. “Those were paparazzi shots. This is him walking the red carpet hand–in–hand with his wife. It’s a statement.” 

“You just have to look at Don Santini’s expression to 

know.” 

My cheeks heated up. 

Though Vincenzo and I had grown much closer lately, hearing myself called his “wife” still felt unfamiliar. 

Midway through the event, there was a segment where guests shared their stories with the brand. Somehow, 

the conversation turned to how Vincenzo and I first 

met. 

Leaving out the contract details, I told our story–and the crowd erupted in exclamations of “drama.” 

On the drive back, I thought it over and finally asked, “Why did you choose me back then?” 

“Did I look like someone else?” 

Vincenzo tilted his head lazily, “If you want to pick a fight, at least come up with a plausible reason.” 

The knot in my chest loosened considerably. I pressed 

on, “Then why?” 

A faint smile tugged at Vincenzo’s lips, “Because you’re rebellious.” 

I blinked in confusion, “Pardon?” 

Vincenzo adjusted the blanket around me, “My family 

is complicated. For a long time, I was controlled by others—they tried to dictate every aspect of my life, 

including my marriage.” 

“But I refused to play by their rules.” 

“That day, I happened to see you arguing with your 

agent before storming off. You refused to do what he 

wanted too.” 

“In a way, we’re quite well–matched, aren’t we?” 

I fell silent for a long while. 

At first, it sounded absurd. Then I realized it was 

exactly the sort of thing Vincenzo would do. 

The night outside was dark, stars flickering to life one 

by one. 

Vincenzo leaned down, pressing a kiss to my lips- soft, gentle, like a feather brushing skin. 

“If I’d known we’d end up here, I never would have had 

you sign that contract.‘ 

I closed my eyes, a smile spreading across my face, 

“This is perfect too.” 

No need for grand gestures or earth–shattering 

moments. 

Just like this, taking it slow. 

We have a lifetime, after all.
