Though the rumors had been cleared up, the public frenzy showed no signs of abating. 

At Vincenzo’s firm insistence, I moved back to his villa. 

On the way, Vincenzo fielded several work calls in quick succession. It occurred to me that he’d originally been scheduled to leave on a business trip today. 

“You should head to your work. There’s no need to drop 

me off.” 

Vincenzo put his phone away, his gaze fixed steadily on 

1. me. 

“Not needing to and not wanting to are two different 

things.” 

“The company won’t collapse if I miss one day at the office, but our home might fall apart if I’m not here.” 

I fell lost for words. 

When had Vincenzo grown so quick–witted and 

smooth–talking? 

Back at the villa, Vincenzo carried my luggage straight 

to the master bedroom. 

Only then did I notice that all his things had been 

moved in from the guest room as well. 

His dress shirts and suits hung neatly in the walk–in 

closet. 

Catching me staring blankly, Vincenzo arched a brow. 

“The contract term is up. It’s high time we worked on building some real feelings.” 

I blinked in confusion, “Pardon?” 

“The agreement has expired.” 

“Have you ever seen a married couple sleeping in separate rooms?” 

He strolled over to stand before me, his tone casual yet 

his eyes utterly earnest. 

“We can nurture our relationship. As for divorce, don’t 

even think about it.” 

After dinner, Vincenzo headed to the office. 

Bored with nothing to do, I browsed social media for a 

while. 

The A–list actor who’d used me as a smokescreen had 

all his dirty laundry aired in public. 

Tax evasion, cheating, sleeping with fans–his private 

life was a mess. His fans didn’t even have time to 

mount a defense before public opinion spiraled out of 

control. 

All evidence was irrefutable. Even his agency abandoned damage control, and every brand partner rushed to release termination statements. 

The comment section was filled with cheers of 

approval. 

This isn’t the first time he’s used someone else as a 

distraction. Disgusting. 

A problematic celebrity like this should have been banned long ago, only kept afloat by fan delusions. 

He finally messed with the wrong person this time. 

Total satisfaction. 

Such massive backlash, clearly someone powerful is 

behind this. 

So what if there is? Trash like him deserves to be 

blacklisted anyway. 

Pushing a pregnant woman out to take the heat and 

incite online abuse–he’s nothing short of scum. 

I skimmed a few comments then locked my phone. 

When Vincenzo came home that night, I’d already showered and was leaning against the headboard reading a script. 

He came in after showering, carrying the clean scent of soap and the slight, cool dampness of his skin. 

With his rimless glasses resting on the bridge of his 

nose, he settled onto the sofa to handle work. 

Ever since he’d walked in, I’d been restless and 

flustered. 

It was the same house, the same man, yet the atmosphere felt completely different. 

Vincenzo seemed to have dropped all his cold barriers at once, making no effort to hide his presence in my 

life. 

My eyes kept drifting toward him involuntarily. 

Then Vincenzo spoke out of the blue, “If you want to 

stare, just go ahead. I don’t charge for the view.” 

I huffed stubbornly, “I wasn’t looking at you at all.” 

He closed his laptop and sat down on the edge of the 

bed. 

Reaching out, he wrapped his fingers around my wrist. 

“Your heartbeat’s racing fast.” 

“Are you afraid of me?” 

Vincenzo’s eyes never left my face. 

His gaze wasn’t intense or burning, even gentle in a quiet way, yet it made my heart race and my breath 

catch. 

“Could you… stop looking at me like that?”
