He returned home in a daze.

The house was dark.

Everything that belonged to Cora-her clothes, her books, her favorite mug… all gone.

It was only now that Wyatt truly realized.

A home without Cora could be so cold.

So cold it was terrifying.

He began calling old high school classmates like a madman, asking for any news of Cora.

“Cora Dawson? Hey man, you still haven’t gotten over her after all these years? She disappeared before graduation. No one could ever reach her.”

“No news at all. It’s like she cut off contact with everyone from here.”

“Buddy, there’s devotion, and then there’s this. It’s been a decade. You need to move on.”

Nobody knew where she was.

Even when he said, “Didn’t you come to our wedding?”, the other end of the line would just go silent for a

moment, then advise him to see a therapist.

Wyatt sat alone in the pitch-black room.

Wrapped in an endless abyss of loneliness and panic.

He couldn’t understand what the hell had happened.

It was just that, in this moment, when Cora had utterly and completely vanished from his world, he finally discovered-it was worse than dying.

“Beep-”

The electronic lock on the front door chimed.

Wyatt froze, and an uncontrollable, manic joy surged through him. He lunged forward and yanked the door

open.

“Cora!”
