Listening to Caleb and Sylvie’s conversation, Nova felt a wave of absolute disgust.

She finally stopped in her tracks and turned back, marching right up to the couple.

Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, Nova pulled a water bottle from her backpack and splashed the water directly onto Sylvie.

“Ah!”

Sylvie was drenched, her school uniform completely soaked.

Seeing Sylvie being bullied, Caleb immediately flared up. “Nova! What the hell are you doing?”

Nova replied coldly, “Now you don’t have to feel guilty.”

With that, she turned on her heel and walked away.

Caleb wanted to lash out, but the security guard at the school gate happened to step outside, leaving Sylvie to sob quietly in grievance.

Nova splashing water on Sylvie at the school gates instantly became the hottest topic on

campus.

Even the way her classmates looked at her changed, tinged with a strange judgment as everyone tacitly assumed Nova was just jealous that Sylvie had become Caleb’s girlfriend.

They figured Nova was lashing out in anger because she couldn’t have him.

However, with finals approaching, no one wanted to cause real trouble. The junior year coursework was heavy enough, so the incident was ultimately reduced to entertaining gossip between classes.

Because of this, Sylvie and Caleb’s relationship only grew more intimate. The two even started sneaking kisses in the corners of the athletic field. Naturally, Ms. Albright and Mr. Sterling had to pull them in for disciplinary lectures more than once.

But the rebellious teenagers completely ignored the warnings. Thanks to the Langdon family’s influence, Ms. Albright couldn’t do much about Caleb. Not only that, but Caleb fiercely protected Sylvie, publicly warning the teacher not to give her a hard time.

Caleb’s bold move had the entire grade calling him a real man, though Nova simply scoffed at the display.

As time went on, Ms. Albright and Mr. Sterling gave up trying to intervene, letting Sylvie and Caleb do whatever they wanted around campus. If things got too out of hand, they could always just expel them.

There were only three days left until finals. During the lunch break, the atmosphere in the classroom was incredibly tense. Ever since Alaric Langdon moved in with the Donald family, his mental state had vastly improved, and his test scores for the month were remarkably outstanding.

Alaric had always been in the top five of their grade, but now he sat firmly in the number one spot.

With Alaric’s help, Nova’s grades had also stabilized in the top ten.

“Did you guys hear? The Langdon family is about to go bankrupt!”

“You’re crazy. How could the Langdon family go broke? They’re one of the biggest families in Lindenwood.”

“It’s true! I heard my dad say that ever since Caleb’s dad died leaving a mountain of debt, their business has been struggling. They’ve actually been out of money for a while!”

The whispers about the Langdon family echoed endlessly around the classroom.

The news of their impending bankruptcy couldn’t be hidden any longer.

Nova had previously asked her father to withdraw all financial support from the Langdon family. Now, they were completely isolated. If they couldn’t find a new investor within a month, the Langdons would be finished.

Caleb’s title as one of the elite young heirs of Lindenwood wouldn’t save them.

Just then, Sylvie walked into the classroom. Lately, she and Caleb had been sneaking off campus for dates, and ditching class had become part of her daily routine.

Seeing Sylvie enter, Tina Jacobs immediately rushed over to gossip. “Sylvie, did you know Caleb’s family is about to go bankrupt?”

“Bankrupt?” Sylvie laughed. “Stop joking. Caleb just took me to the dealership to look at cars. He said he’s buying me a Mercedes for my birthday next year when I come of age. If they were going bankrupt, could he afford to just casually buy me a car?”

Hearing this, Tina finally breathed a sigh of relief. “I knew it! How could a family with such a massive empire go broke?”
