The Loser Ex-Wife Came Back Hot Chapter 15

‘I don’t need it.

Alaric’s refusal was blunt. He spun around and marched right out of the clinic.

Nova scrambled after him. “Alaric! Wait!”

He showed no intention of stopping.

In her rush, her foot caught on the floorboards, and she nearly went sprawling. Suddenly, Alaric reached out, his strong grip steadying her arm. “Are… are you hurt?”

His voice was incredibly soft. Nova shook her head, then pulled a small bottle of muscle relief balm from her pocket.

Since she had started working out aggressively, she was constantly covered in bumps and bruises, so she carried the ointment everywhere. She pressed the bottle firmly into his palm. “Your injury isn’t too bad, and I use this stuff all the time anyway. You should try it.”

Staring at the bottle in his hand, Alaric fell silent.

Nova was acutely aware of his status as an illegitimate son. She knew he suffered constant abuse from Mrs. Langdon and Caleb. With the Langdon family facing financial ruin, Mrs. Langdon certainly wasn’t giving Alaric any allowance.

Just paying his tuition at this elite academy was likely only done to save face.

That twenty-dollar bottle of balm was probably his entire food budget for the week.

“Thank you, but I don’t need it.”

He tried to hand it back, but Nova, mindful of his teenage pride, quickly added, “I’m not giving this to you for free! It comes with a paycheck!”

The mention of money made Alaric pause.

4 know you’re short on cash at home, and since you saved my life, I want to make a deal with you.”

‘What kind of deal?”

‘You know I’m trying to lose weight. If you act as my personal trainer, I’ll pay you five hundred dollars a month. What do you say?”

Alaric frowned. “I’m not worth that much.”

‘Well, I’m only paying if I see results.”

Nova fished a crisp hundred-dollar bill from her pocket and pressed it into his hand along with the balm. “This is your advance for the week, and my way of saying thank you. Meet me during lunch and the afternoon study hall every day.”

Before he could argue, the bell rang. Nova grabbed his sleeve and tugged him down the hall. “Hurry up! Class is starting!”

Alaric didn’t say a word. He just stared down at the hand pulling him along, lost in thought.

They weren’t actually in the same class.

The prep school sorted students into tiers from Tier A to Tier F, with A being the honor roll and F being the bottom of the barrel.

Alaric was in Tier F. It wasn’t because he was academically challenged, out because he had been demoted after getting caught up in a massive

ǝrawl.

When Nova walked into the Tier A classroom, the teacher hadn’t arrived yet. However, her desk had been violently shoved over, her books and supplies scattered like trash across the floor.

Taking in the mess, her gaze turned somber.

Around the room, several students were whispering and snickering.

‘Who did this?”

Her voice rang out, but no one confessed.

Tina Jacobs tossed her hair and sneered, “Who knows? Maybe it was the wind. But I guess snitches get what’s coming to them.”

Looking at Tina’s smug face, Nova knew exactly who was responsible.

Tina was Sylvie’s biggest lapdog, and right now, Sylvie was sitting quietly, doing absolutely nothing to defend Nova.

Sylvie’s eyes were red and puffy, making her look like a delicate victim.

She was the undisputed class sweetheart, and when the sweetheart got bullied,’ her loyal followers were always ready to play the hero.
