The Loser Ex-Wife Came Back Hot Chapter 14

“You? A worthless bastard like you is trying to play hero for Nova?”

Caleb tried to wrench his arm away, but Alaric stood like a statue, effortlessly holding him in an unbreakable grip.

Realizing he couldn’t even break free from Alaric, Caleb’s face darkened. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted Sylvie sitting nearby, watching him with tear-filled eyes.

Unwilling to look weak in front of the girl he liked, Caleb waited for an opening and viciously kicked Alaric in the stomach.

Caught off guard, Alaric stumbled backward and crashed into a desk.

Seeing this, Nova instantly threw herself in front of Alaric, shielding him. ‘Caleb! Are you out of your mind? You can’t just hit people!”

‘So what if I hit him? He should know his place before he gets in my way!” Caleb sneered, clearly thinking he looked like some untouchable bad boy, when in reality, he was just being despicable.

Furious, Nova turned toward the door and shouted at the top of her lungs, ‘Teacher! Caleb is attacking people!”

‘Nova! Shut your mouth!”

Caleb’s face went pale, but it was too late. Ms. Albright had heard the commotion. She rushed in to find Alaric clutching his stomach, his face ashen, while Caleb was still pointing an angry finger right at Nova’s nose. Having reached her breaking point, Ms. Albright snapped. “Caleb Langdon! How many scenes are you going to cause in one day? I am calling your parents the second school lets out!”

Ms. Albright had clearly already caught flak from Mr. Sterling, so she

unleashed all her pent-up frustration on Caleb.

At the threat of calling his parents, Caleb’s arrogant swagger instantly vanished.

Once Ms. Albright dragged Caleb away, Nova turned to the pale-faced boy behind her. “I’m taking you to the Nurse’s Office.”

Without waiting for a response, Nova draped Alaric’s arm over her shoulders. He stiffened, staring at the side of her face in a slight daze.

Her supporting him down the hallway quickly drew a chorus of jeers and whistles from the surrounding students.

With Nova’s current build, carrying the slender Alaric was hardly a challenge.

Hearing the mockery, Alaric’s brow furrowed. He lashed out, violently kicking over the desk of the loudest heckler in the front row.

The predatory gaze he swept across the room sent a chill down everyone’s spine. The laughter died instantly.

Alaric shrugged off her support and instead wrapped his fingers around her wrist, pulling her out of the classroom.

Staring at his hand gripping hers, Nova blinked, noticing the faint red lush creeping up the tips of his ears.

Remembering the moment she had been pulled from the pool and given CPR upon her rebirth, she asked impulsively, “Alaric, that day at the pool… were you the one who gave me CPR?”

As soon as the words left her mouth, she shocked herself.

Alaric yanked his hand back as if he had been electrocuted.

“Sorry. I didn’t mean to.”

His voice was smooth, a deep and resonant baritone laced with a natural aloofness.

“I wasn’t blaming you. I just wanted to say thank you.”

Alaric didn’t respond. He just kept walking toward the Nurse’s Office.

Knowing he was naturally solitary, Nova quietly trailed behind him.

Inside the clinic, the nurse inspected Alaric’s bruising. “It’s nothing serious. Just rub some muscle relief balm on it. One bottle is twenty bucks, you can pay at the front.”

Hearing the price, Alaric pressed his lips into a thin line.
