The Loser Ex-Wife Came Back Hot Chapter 09

Faced with his daughter’s blunt question, Mr. Donald shifted uncomfortably.

Seeing her husband’s guilty expression, Mrs. Donald frowned sharply. ‘Arthur, are you really still giving them money?”

‘I knew his father for years. I was just helping them out privately…”

‘Are you out of your mind? Why are you still bailing them out? If Caleb’s *ather hadn’t dragged you into his shady business deals, we wouldn’t have lost so much money in the first place! The entire Langdon family is otten. When are you going to learn your lesson?”

Listening to her father, Nova’s gaze turned somber.

t was exactly the same as her past life.

Because he had been friends with Caleb’s father, Mr. Donald had secretly ‘unneled money into The Langdon Corporation, keeping the doomed company afloat for an extra six months!

Mrs. Langdon had ruthlessly exploited her father’s kindness, using it as everage to trap her into marrying Caleb.

n the end, the Langdons acted like parasite’s, draining The Donald Group dry. Once her family was completely stripped of their value,Caleb tossed hem aside like trash.

That was the reality of the Langdon family. That was Caleb.

‘Dad, you need to pull the funding immediately. I’ve heard the Langdons are completely underwater and owe a massive amount of debt. If their creditors find out we’ve been backing them, they’ll show up at our door.”

Hearing the word ‘creditors, Mr. Donald’s face drained of color. Anyone in

the business world knew that those kinds of debt collectors were

ruthless.

Nova pushed harder. “Besides, you saw how Caleb acted tonight. He clearly despises the idea of us helping them. If he hates it that much, why should we bother?”

Mrs. Donald nodded in firm agreement. “Nova is right. Caleb is an

ungrateful brat who treats our daughter like dirt. We owe them absolutely nothing.”

Mr. Donald finally sighed and nodded. “You’re right. I’ll make the calls the minute we get back and cut off all funding. I won’t let those parasites drag us down with them.”

Nova nodded in satisfaction.

She wasn’t exaggerating about the creditors. In her past life, just a few days after she and Caleb officially got engaged at this very dinner, violent debt collectors had smashed their way into the Donald estate. Her father had ended up paying off the Langdons’ massive debts out of his own pocket just to protect his family. And instead of an ounce of gratitude, Caleb had resented them even more, convinced that the Donalds were using their wealth to humiliate him.

Well, since that was how he felt, Caleb could figure out how to pay off his

own father’s debts this time.

Later that evening, Nova and her parents arrived home.

Looking at her plush, comfortable bed and her spacious, warm bedroom, Nova choked up.

It had taken an entire lifetime for her to finally understand what truly mattered.

The most precious thing in the world was the unconditional love of her parents.

And the one person she could never give up on was herself.

Knock, knock.

Mrs. Donald pushed the door open slightly. “Nova, you barely ate anything at dinner, so I had the chef make your favorites.”

She carried in a steaming plate of richly glazed roast beef with gravy and a large bowl of buttered mashed potatoes, setting them gently on the

desk.

Staring at the mouthwatering-food, Nova swallowed hard.

She hadn’t eaten anything all day, and her stomach was growling fiercely.

Looking at the glistening sauce on the ribs, Nova instinctively rested a hand on her round stomach.

She wanted to eat it… but she couldn’t!

Nova forced herself to look away from the plate. “Mom, I’m not hungry…”
