The Lawyer’s Lie Chapter 14

The Lawyer’s Lie Chapter 14

A long time passed before Julian finally spoke, his voice hoarse.

“Find out what else Wendy has been hiding from me. All of it.”

His assistant answered and turned to leave.

A friend beside him leaned closer and whispered, “Julian, about the obstruction-of-justice issue, we can pull some strings and keep it contained. Once it’s treated as a minor matter, it’ll be fine.”

“No,” Julian cut him off. “It was my fault. I’ll take responsibility.”

He looked out the window, his voice very soft.

“She reported me because she was angry. If she’s angry, she deserves to take it out on me. Once I’ve paid for what I did, I’ll go find her and apologize.”

Over the next half month, D.C.’s entire legal community was shaken.

Julian went almost mad digging up everything Wendy had done.

Fabricated evidence, bribed witnesses, fake psychiatric evaluations.

There was also the surveillance footage from the day she had hired men to sexually assault Clara.

In the footage, several men cornered Clara, and Mia was the one who took that assault in her place.

There were also statements from the nurses at the psychiatric facility, and evidence about the baby.

His assistant stood beside him, speaking cautiously.

“Mr. Grant, this really isn’t entirely your fault. Wendy used all those years of history between you to fool

everyone.”

Julian’s face was expressionless, and his voice was as cold as ice. “I will make her pay.”

The rage inside him burned hotter and hotter, consuming the last trace of affection he had ever had for

Wendy. It had reached the point where he could no longer suppress it.

He submitted every piece of evidence to the court.

When Wendy was brought into the courtroom, she had lost weight, and her eyes were sunken.

The moment she saw Julian, tears rushed into her eyes.

“Julian! Julian, you finally came!” She tried to run toward him, but was held back. Still thinking she could be forgiven, she cried, “I know I was wrong! I really do! I mistook him for someone else! I didn’t frame Noah on

purpose!”

Julian looked at her without saying a word.

“Julian! After all these years between us, you can’t abandon me! You said I was your only protégée!”

“You said I was like a sister to you! You can’t just leave me!”

“Shut up,” Julian finally said, his eyes cold. “I truly regret ever knowing you.”

Wendy froze.

She had never seen Julian look at her that way.

Or rather, she had seen it before, but only in court, when he showed no mercy to people who had committed unforgivable crimes.

She panicked completely and began sobbing for mercy, but it was useless.

The trial that followed stunned the entire country.

Julian appeared in court himself and laid out every one of Wendy’s crimes.

False accusation and framing, intentional assault and battery, fabricating evidence, and more.

Every count was backed by solid proof.

Wendy went from breaking down to begging, from begging to silence, and from silence to despair.

In the end, the judge convicted Wendy on multiple counts and sentenced her to life in prison.

As she was taken away, she looked back at Julian.

It was as if she were truly seeing this man for the first time: ruthless, iron-willed, and merciless.

And it was not over.

Julian repaid her, piece by piece, with the same methods she had used to hurt Clara.

He petitioned to have her placed in psychiatric treatment.

Electroshock, needles, hydrotherapy, solitary confinement, and more. What she received was even worse

than what she had inflicted.

“Julian, Julian, I was wrong…” Wendy’s voice was so hoarse it was almost inaudible. “Please. Let me go…”

What greeted her was only a stronger surge of electricity. Begging did nothing.

“Ah!” Wendy screamed as the current tore through her body. She kept coughing blood and collapsed to the

floor.

With a bitter smile, she lifted her head and looked through the glass wall of the treatment room. She knew he

was standing there.

“I know I was wrong. I should never have hurt her. But what about you?” she gasped, throwing caution to the

wind. “Do you dare say you had no selfish motive at all? Did you really take that case only to get justice for

me?”
