The Invisible Luna’s Revenge Chapter 05

The Invisible Luna’s Revenge Chapter 05

Jack was losing his mind

He couldn’t even boil a pot of water. The legendary Alpha of the famous Blackwood Pack couldn’t even figure out how to make dinner. He ended up splurging on expensive takeout, and hosted his two guests for dinner in the study. By the time it was time to turn in for the night, Jack realized the guest room hadn’t even been made up. The sheets were still folded in the linen

closet. The two men had to make their own beds

When they left the next morning, Ben let a sneer tug at

his lips

Thanks for the fine food and cozy bed, Alpha Jack.”

Mr. Aldrich’s goodbye was polite enough, but a faint, sharp disappointment lingered in his tone

I know losing your mate hurts like hell, but even when no one’s taking care of you, you can at least have the decency to keep your house in order.”

Jack could only force an awkward laugh

The door clicked shut. The perfect mask Jack wore

crumbled completely

Anna Vance!he roared, storming into the living

room. What the hell is wrong with you! I told you! The antidote isn’t ready yet! Is this how you treat me?!”

I leaned back against the couch and didn’t move an

inch

I gave you a roof over your head! Food! Protection! All I asked you to do is a little housework. Is that too damn hard?He raked a hand roughly through his hair, his expression icecold. Anna, if you keep this up, I’m gonna have to rethink this whole mate thing. An Omega who can’t even support her Alpha doesn’t deserve to be

my Luna

I’ll be gone for three days. When I come back, this place better be spotless. You got me?”

The door slammed shut behind him

Finally

The second his car pulled out of the driveway, I bolted straight back to the study. I ran my fingers over the spines of every old notebook on the bookshelf, until in the back corner of the bottom shelf, I found it, a thin

untitled journal

Inside were the recipes for the invisibility potion, andthe recipe for the reversal

My breath caught. The ink was faded and old. He’d had

this the entire time

That night, under cover of the new moon, I slipped out of the apartment. It was the first time I’d left in three years. The city air bit into my skin, sharp and cold. I couldn’t manifest clothes, so every shadow felt like a hundred staring eyes. Every tiny sound sent a chill

skittering down my spine

But I kept going, cutting through back alleys and moving in the dark

The pack’s lab was in a renovated warehouse on the outskirts of town, all glass and steel. Flashlight in

hand, I tore through drawers, cold storage units, and locked cabinets. I tried every combination I could think of, but none of them worked

Just when I was about to give up, I found

temperature- and humiditycontrolled safe. Inside were two small vials, exactly like the one I’d drunk three years before. One label read: [PA Serum

Prototype.] The other read: [Conversion Agent

Stabilizer.

My heart hammered against my ribs

I twisted the cap off immediately, and let one drop of

the antidote hit my tongue

It felt like getting hit by lightning. All the strength drained out of me in an instant, and I collapsed to the

floor

When I pulled myself back up, I caught a flash of

movement out of the corner of my eye

It was my hand

In the dim light, it flickered like a hologram. It would

appear for a second, vanish, then reappear again

One drop had already done this

I curled up on the floor, wrapping my arms tight around myself. Tears streamed down my face

Finally.
