It’d been three whole years since I accidentally drank the witch’s invisibility potion—no one could see me anymore.

My Alpha mate, Jack Thorne, started bringing other she-wolves back to our pack house.

Afterwards, he’d always whisper an apology into the empty air, “Forgive me, Anna. I’m just so lonely.”

I’d been drowning in guilt this whole time, believing it was all my fault.

Then came his birthday celebration. He and his Beta, Leo, stumbled home completely wasted. I hovered in the corner of the living room, watching them crack open an expensive bottle of bourbon.

“So, man,” Leo lowered his voice, “Anna’s still… gone, right?”

Jack loosened his tie, a cold smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. “Her? Don’t kid yourself. She’s too proud to strip down in front of another guy. She’s just hiding.”

Leo chuckled. “It’s been three years, bro. You can’t hide your Luna forever. When you gonna give her the antidote?”

“Enough,” Jack cut him off. “I’m not ready to settle down with a mate and handle all that responsibility. This works fine for me right now. Let me enjoy myself while I can. I’ll give her the antidote when I’m ready.”

Antidote.

I froze. So he’d known how to reverse the invisibility this whole time.

“She was so gullible,” Jack went on, swirling his glass. “I told her no one can see her—not even me—and she actually bought it. She’ll never guess her fated mate can see her plain as day.” He took a slow sip. “Sometimes I just ignore the notes she leaves out on purpose, just to watch her break. It’s fucking hilarious.”

Leo let out a low whistle. “And she still thinks it was just an accident?”

“Oh, hell yeah,” Jack leaned forward, his eyes glinting in the dim light. “All these years I bring women home, say I’m just lonely, and she just goes off and cries by herself… God, it’s better than any drug.”

Their laughter filled every corner of the room.

My heart shattered into a million pieces.
