The Heiress They Exiled Chapter 07

The Heiress They Exiled Chapter 07

My father follows him, and no one looks at Lillian again.

The lights in the morgue are painfully bright.

Graham rushes to the narrow bed and grabs my hand, already cold and lifeless.

“We haven’t even bought the bag yet…” His voice trembles uncontrollably. “You love that new Chanel bag, don’t you? Wake up. I’ll buy it for you. I’ll buy you as many as you want.”

“Wake up. Please. Come on, wake up.”

My father stands beside him, trembling as he reaches out and gently brushes the loose strands of hair away from my forehead.

His lips are shaking.

“Harper…” he whispers. “Daddy’s here.”

I float above them, silently watching.

I imagine their regret countless times. I think I will feel satisfied when it finally happens.

But now that I’m actually seeing it, all I feel is a painful tightness in the empty space where my

heart used to be.

When the doctor walks in, his expression is grave.

“We found something while processing the body,” he says. “In addition to the injuries from the accident, the deceased has extensive old injuries.”

“There are repeated signs of trauma on her wrists, back, and lower legs. Some of the scars appear

to be at least two years old.”

“We suspect the deceased may have suffered prolonged abuse while she was alive. We’ve reported

it to the police as required.”

My father jerks his head up.

“What did you say?” His voice is hoarse. “Old injuries? Abuse?”

“Impossible.” He shakes his head. “My daughter was pampered from birth. No one has ever dared lay a finger on her. You must have made a mistake.”

The doctor looks at him without arguing, “The police investigation will determine what happened.”

The police arrive quickly, and my father cooperates throughout the entire process, telling them

everything he knows.

The name of the school. The date I enrolled. Who recommended it in the first place.

After the police leave, the entire room falls into a deathly silence.

I remember when I first arrive at the school.

Back then, I still truly believe I am the pampered Principessa Harper. How dare they hit me?

But they do.

So I steal a phone that is locked inside the office and hide in the bathroom to call my father.

The moment he answers, I choke out a sob.

“Dad, please come get me. They’re hitting me. They’re whipping me with a cane. It hurts so much.”

There is silence on the other end for several seconds.

Then my father’s voice comes through, “Harper, is lying all you’ve learned at that school? I’m telling you, stay there and behave. If you can’t change, don’t bother coming home.”

He hangs up.

I think he doesn’t understand, so I call again.

He doesn’t say a word and simply hangs up.

The next morning, an instructor comes straight to me, “You called home to complain?”

Before I can explain, the cane comes down.

Once. Then again.

By the time he’s finished, I can’t even cry anymore.

The instructor steps on my palm and crouches down in front of me, “Who do you think you are? Your father personally told me to discipline you properly. He said you’ve always been a liar, always

pretending to be helpless. He doesn’t believe a single word you say.”

After that, I lie in the disciplinary room for three days, barely surviving.

I never call home again.

A month later, the news about Stonebridge Boarding School spreads everywhere.

The police uncover a massive collection of video footage inside the school.

Videos of me being beaten.

Videos of me kneeling in the hallway, reciting the school rules over and over.

Videos of me being forced into cold water, shocked with electricity, and locked inside the disciplinary building.

My mother’s eyes turn red as she watches the footage, as though they’re about to bleed.

Graham punches the wall, his knuckles covered in blood.

Weston trembles so badly that he can’t speak.

My father sits there, his face deathly pale. As he watches the videos, something suddenly seems to occur to him.

He turns sharply toward Lillian.

She is the one who recommended the school.

Back then, my father says he wants to find me a stricter school to correct my bad temper.

Lillian, with red-rimmed eyes and an innocent expression, says she has a classmate who once

attends a school where the discipline is excellent, and that the girl becomes much more well-behaved after graduating.

She says she only wants to help me become a better person, and she never expects it to turn out like

this.

They all believe her. And none of them expect it to end this way..

Lillian is taken away from the hospital, charged with deliberately obstructing the rescue effort.

She cries and tries to explain, insisting it is all a misunderstanding, insisting she never means for this to happen.

But this time, no one believes her.

My father stands there, watching her being led into the police car without saying a word.

After the police car disappears into the distance, he suddenly doubles over and begins coughing violently.

A mouthful of blood splatters onto the ground, shockingly red.

From that day on, my father seems to age ten years overnight.

But the real blow is still to come.

While verifying Lillian’s identity, the police uncover a fact that no one could have imagined.
