The Heiress They Exiled Chapter 06

The Heiress They Exiled Chapter 06

My mother rushes forward and grabs his arm.

‘Are you insane? What if…”

“What if what?” My father reassures her. “Graham sent someone to pick her up a long time ago. They must have already brought her back to the city.”

He turns to Graham, “Call the people you sent. Tell them to put Harper on the phone. NOW.”

Graham immediately takes out his phone and makes the call.

I float quietly in the corner of the room, thinking to myself.

Maybe scattering my ashes is for the best. At least I’ll be free.

Graham puts the call on speaker. It only rings twice before someone answers.

“Mr. Moorefield.” The voice on the other end is slightly muffled, as though the person is driving.

Graham grips his phone tightly, “Did you pick up Principessa Harper?”

There is a brief pause.

“Didn’t you tell us not to go?”

The hallway falls completely silent.

Graham’s expression changes, “Who told you not to go?!”

“Principessa Lillian,” the person answers matter-of-factly. “She called and said Harper was

already safe, so we didn’t need to make the trip. What’s wrong, Mr. Moorefield? Did something happen?”

Graham turns around in disbelief.

Everyone’s eyes fall on Lillian.

My mother’s legs give out, and she slides down the wall until she is sitting on the floor.

My father looks sharply at Lillian, disbelief written all over his face.

Lillian’s face is drained of color. Her lips tremble as tears quickly fill her eyes.

“I…” Her voice shakes. “Harper messaged me. She said she was only pretending to be helpless because she wanted Tabitha and Malcolm to worry about her. She said you would definitely still care about her more. I didn’t want the security team to make the trip for nothing, so I called them

and told them to turn back.”

“That ungrateful girl!” My father grits his teeth. “She puts on a helpless act, and now she dares to

ke about dying! What the hell is she trying to do?”

My mother presses a hand to her chest and lets out a long breath.

“She’s fine…” she murmurs. “As long as she’s okay… God, she almost gave me a heart attack.”

She braces herself against the wall and tries to stand, but her legs are still weak.

Just then, Graham’s phone rings. It’s a video call from Weston.

He answers.

On the screen is the face I’ve known since childhood, except now his eyes are red as if they’re about

to bleed.

He’s holding something in his arms, and his entire body is trembling.

“GRAHAM!” His voice is so hoarse it’s almost impossible to hear. “Where are the people you sent?”

He turns the camera.

And there I am. Covered in blood, my face mangled beyond recognition, my body completely still,

never to breathe again.

“Where the hell is the rescue team?” he demands hoarsely. “Where the fuck is the rescue team you

promised me?”

Graham stares at the bloodied, unrecognizable face on the screen.

The dress I’m wearing is the Chanel dress he has someone send over before leaving. The shoes are

the Dior pair my mother personally chooses. And on my right wrist is the scar he knows better than

anyone.

He opens his mouth, but not a single word comes out.

My mother only needs one glance at the screen before her entire body goes limp and she collapses backward, hitting the floor hard.

My father’s eyes remain fixed on the screen. It’s as if every ounce of strength has been ripped from his body.

Then he suddenly turns around and slaps Lillian across the face.

The blow lands with all his strength, knocking Lillian to the floor. A thin line of blood appears at the

corner of her mouth.

“This is what you meant by ‘pretending’?” My father’s voice sounds like it’s being forced out of his

roat. “This is what you meant when you said she messaged you?!”

Lillian covers her cheek and stares blankly at the screen.

She seems shocked too.

Her lips move as she tries to say something, but my father’s terrifying glare makes her shrink

backward.

Graham finally seems to snap out of his shock.

He snatches the phone and stumbles out of the room.
