The Godfather’s Last Regret: He Never Knew Her Chapter 09

The Godfather’s Last Regret: He Never Knew Her Chapter 09

He pulled her fingers off him one by one.

“I thought I could handle it. But I can’t. Every time I think about you spreading your legs for all those men, smiling and begging… you’re cheap. And disgusting.”

Standing in her wedding dress while the groom exposed her dirty past in front of everyone.

The guests and staff all gasped.

They didn’t know Vanessa was that wild. And they couldn’t believe the head of a mafia family would take that much humiliation.

Even if he’d finally woken up, he’d be a laughingstock forever.

Vanessa tried to play the “you knew” card. “You knew all this before! You said you didn’t care!”

Damon poked her in the chest.

“I could tolerate it because I thought you were the one who stayed with me when I was at my lowest. But were you?”

Vanessa’s hands clenched into fists. “And what about Sophia? She wasn’t either! So why her?”

Damon’s eyes went cold. “You don’t get to say her name.”

Vanessa laughed. “Damon, you’re just a pathetic puppy. You only want someone who doesn’t want you.”

“When I threw you away, you begged me to stay. Now Sophia doesn’t want you, and you’re crawling back to her.”

She knew there was no chance with him anymore. So she burned it all down.

“What’s the difference between you and a dog? At least a dog is cute.”

“You think I ever really liked you? If you weren’t a Rossi, I wouldn’t have given you a second look.”

Vanessa screamed. But Damon didn’t react. His mind was on me, in the middle of my wedding.

He couldn’t help imagining. If he hadn’t cancelled…

Would I be walking down the aisle with him instead?

Regret and shame washed over him. He stepped forward, determined to knock on the door and take me away.

If he tried hard enough. If he apologized sincerely.

I would forgive him.

Because I’d loved him for ten years.

He brainwashed himself with that thought. His courage swelled.

Vanessa grabbed his waist. “Damon, have you no shame? Sophia dumped you for another man. Why are you still chasing?”

Damon slapped her. “You’re the shameless one. Get the hell out of here unless you want your private photos all over the internet.”

Vanessa froze. She didn’t think he’d go that far.

When someone threatened to leak her photos, Damon said he’d protect her forever.

Vanessa went crazy. “Damon! You pathetic puppy! How dare you do this to me?”

“No wonder Sophia dumped you! You’re blind and stupid. She’s the one who got you those cancer specialists. She wrote those letters. Not me.”

Damon turned to stone.

Vanessa laughed through her tears.

“You thought Sophia was boring. The boring one is you. You wasted ten years of her life. And you think she’ll take you back now? Did she ever say a single word about the truth in ten years?”

Vanessa twisted the knife. Damon lost it.

He hit her again. She crumpled to the ground.

The venue manager had to call the cops to stop them from tearing each other apart.

I didn’t know any of this.

Because I was toasting the guests with Lorenzo.

Lorenzo stood beside me and handed me a stock transfer agreement. “Babe. Looking forward to working with you.”

Everyone cheered at his generosity.

I signed my name without hesitating. I knew what I was worth.
“This is just your entry fee.”

The only reason I agreed to marry Lorenzo was because he gave me enough and because he was devoted.

As long as he meant it now, he’d give me everything willingly.

If he ever betrayed me later, I’d have more than enough to walk away.

I’ll never give myself fully to anyone again.

Lorenzo’s eyes were full of warmth. He didn’t mind at all.

The only thing he was afraid of was not even getting an entry fee.
