Caspian came out of the bathroom. The laundry was done.

His face was calm, but his eyes were still flushed at the corners.

I smiled at him. “Handy, aren’t they?”

He froze.

Although I had discovered his secret and allowed his embraces and kisses, we hadn’t crossed the final line.

“Anything on that,” I pointed at my clothes, “needs… washing off?”

“…It’s clean. You can check.”

“Relax, I don’t mind.”

I looked Caspian up and down.

Six-two, perfect proportions.

He was far superior to Evan in every way.

“I might need you to wash a dress in a bit too.”

“What?”

Caspian stared down at me, confused.

I peeled off my clothes, stood on tiptoe, and kissed him.

“Caspian, Evan might really be dead,” I said in a small, pitiful voice.

“Will you stay with me tonight?”
