The Gamma’s Regret Chapter 05

The Gamma’s Regret Chapter 05

The convoy cut through downtown and entered the most exclusive enclave of the city. We pulled into a sprawling, heavily fortified estate.

My body and mind completely relaxed at that moment.

I alighted after my brother. The warriors already assembled on the grounds shouted in unison.

“Welcome home, Princess-”

That familiar title cracked something open. My buried memories surged back to life.

I was born to be revered.

But for love, I threw everything away. Married down to a low-ranking warrior named Arthur. Gave up my status. My power. Everything. Thirty years of cooking and cleaning. And look what it got me.

In my past life, when I lay paralyzed in that nursing home, I thought about reaching out to Liam.

But Jack and Mia confiscated my phone. Cut every connection. I didn’t even have a chance to call for help.

Liam didn’t learn what happened until three years after I died. He wanted to give me a proper funeral. But he

couldn’t even find my ashes.

Truth was, Liam came for me before. Right after Arthur’s accident. He wanted to take me away.

But back then, I was chained by some twisted sense of duty. I was too stupid to leave.

Not this time.

Liam arranged everything. The most comfortable suite. The best healers. The most attentive staff.

He knew I couldn’t sit still. So he added a small garden, a koi pond, and a greenhouse just for me.

My days filled with planting flowers and feeding fish. Basking in the sun. Reading. Playing cards over tea with the wealthy matrons of the estate.

No one to serve. No faces to read. No swallowing my own needs. My smile grew wider every day.

One afternoon, I stopped by my old place to grab a few things.

I opened the door. The apartment was torn apart.

I thought it was a break-in. I was about to hit the alarm when Jack walked out of the bedroom.

He saw me and exploded. “Where the hell have you been?! Do you have any idea the house is falling apart?!”

“No one’s watching the kid. Lily’s talking about dissolving our bond! My company’s in trouble. I asked Dad for a hundred thousand and he turned me down!”

“And you? You’re hiding out living the good life!”

I watched him calmly. Let him finish. Then I spoke flat and cold.

“You done? Then get out. This is my house. You have no right to step foot here.”

Jack froze. Disbelief twisted his face. “Mom! What happened to you?!”

I almost laughed.

In my past life, I gave him everything. Raised his kid. Cleaned his house. When his company tanked, I sold my jewelry to cover his debts. And what did I get back?

He treated me like a servant. Helped strangers attack me. Shoved me into the street.

Jack thought I was just throwing a tantrum. He waved his hand dismissively. “Fine, fine. This is about Clara, isn’t it? Whatever. You’re still my mother. Just come home, apologize, help with the kid and the house. I’ll still

take care of you when you’re old.”

“Now hurry up. First thing-go apologize to Lily.”

I ripped my hand away from his grasp. My eyes turned to ice.

“Jack. As of today, you are no longer my son. Your life is none of my concern.”

Jack went rigid. His face drained white. Like he’d just heard the most ridiculous joke in the world.

Right then, a few of my gaming companions arrived to meet me. They heard the shouting and rushed in. They formed a wall in front of me and tore into Jack with vicious, well-bred fury.

Jack shook with rage. But he didn’t dare raise a hand against these high-born she-wolves. He spat one last pathetic threat and slammed the door on his way out.

I changed the door code and the security system immediately.

From now on, no one is allowed in this house except me.
