The Family Group Chat Without Me, The Truth They Hid Chapter 04

The Family Group Chat Without Me, The Truth They Hid Chapter 04

Three minutes before the gate closed, an airport employee stopped me at the gate.

“Ms. Bellmont, this passport isn’t yours.”

I froze.

A loud buzz filled my head.

With shaking hands, I turned my phone back on.

Stellan called almost immediately.

“Cyra, what happened between Miri and me was a misunderstanding. Stop making such a huge deal out of it.”

“Come back. You upset her so badly she passed out. She needs blood. She’s AB-negative, and you’re the only compatible donor they can reach in Wrenford.”

Mom’s voice nearly drowned him out.

“You KNOW Miri has a heart condition, and you still pushed her like that! Are you trying to kill her?!”

Tamsin was talking over them too, turning the call into complete chaos.

Then Stellan’s voice cut through the noise.

“Just wait. I knew she might try to leave someday, so I switched out her passport ahead of time. She can’t go anywhere. She’ll have to come back.”

My fingers tightened around the phone.

Then photos of me bruised, soaked, and crying started spreading online, followed by one headline after another.

#ELITE CONSERVATORY ADMIT CYRA BELLMONT ACCUSED OF STEALING HER SISTER’S BOYFRIEND AND ATTACKING HER AT HOSPITAL#

The story spread fast, and soon insults, abusive messages, and nonstop calls were pouring in.

Insults flooded my accounts. Strangers called me a homewrecker, a psycho, a jealous bitch. My phone wouldn’t stop ringing.

And I couldn’t defend myself.

No matter how hard I tried, my ruined throat couldn’t force out a single word.

Then an email from the conservatory appeared.

[Ms. Bellmont,

We greatly admire your talent. However, given the seriousness of the allegations currently circulating, we need to place your offer of admission under review.]

I stood outside the airport, watching people stream past me as despair slowly swallowed me whole.

After that, everything blurred.

Like a puppet with someone else pulling the strings, I somehow ended up back at Wrenford Memorial Hospital.

The second I stepped into the hallway, Mom slapped me across the face.

“You’re going to destroy this entire family! If anything happens to Miri, I will NEVER forgive you!”

I didn’t move.

Slowly, the fury in her voice gave way to desperation.

“Your sister is AB-negative. Right now, you’re the only compatible donor they have…”

Her voice broke.

“Cyra, I’m begging you.”

Then she dropped to her knees in front of me.

“If you want revenge, take it out on me. Miri is innocent! Hate me all you want, but please… please save your sister.”

For a second, it felt like all the blood had already drained from my body.

I stared at the woman who had always been too proud to bow her head to anyone.

Then I closed my eyes, took the blood-donation consent form, and signed my name.

As the medical staff wheeled me away, I heard Mom behind me.

“Please be gentle… She’s always been scared of needles. She has a really low pain tolerance.”

My nose burned.

My eyes stung before I could stop them.

Stellan hurried after us and draped his jacket over my shoulders.

“Cyra… I owe you for this. When you’re done, I swear I’ll marry you.”

I said nothing.

Between my earlier injury and the blood donation, I ended up staying in the hospital for a week.

Mirelle was in the room right next to mine.

Everyone stayed at her bedside around the clock.

No one remembered I was there.

That evening, another email from the conservatory arrived.

[After completing our review, we are pleased to confirm that your admission offer remains in effect.]

I finally let out the breath I’d been holding.

The weight that had been crushing me for days lifted all at once.

Before throwing away Stellan’s jacket, I took my passport back from the inside pocket, along with the cash tucked inside.

Before I left, I left behind a letter saying I was cutting ties with the family and sent one final message.

[From this moment on, I’m done with this family.]

Then I blocked every number, every account, every contact tied to them.

And I left Wrenford without looking back.

It wasn’t until the next morning, when Mirelle was discharged, that they finally opened the door to the room next to hers.

Mom’s voice was gentler now.

“Cyra, you’ve always had such a temper.”

“Come on, pack your things and come home. I’m making your favorite ribs tonight.”

Tamsin chimed in right after her.

“Seriously, Cyra? Miri isn’t even holding this against you anymore. You’re STILL mad?”

No one answered.

Stellan turned on the light.

“Cyra, the doctor said your voice should recover soon. When it does, I’ll throw you a huge party.”

His voice softened.

“You’ve always wanted to marry me, right? We can do it that same day. Give ourselves two reasons to celebrate…”

The rest of the sentence died in his throat.

As the lights came on, their phones lit up with my final message. The room was empty, and every face went white.
