The Failed Assassination by Jasmine Flower Chapter 09

I raised an eyebrow. I was completely unsurprised by this development. In contrast, Luis was looking at Bianca in absolute disbelief.

“But you love me. Why would you become my lover if you didn’t love me?”

Bianca leaned against the pillar and laughed loudly. “Because you’re powerful and influential. You could help me climb the ladder in the family.”

After saying this, Bianca suddenly turned toward me. Her expression was one of fear, but her features twisted together.

“There’s something you don’t know, Mrs. Marconi. When we’re together, Luis keeps saying you’re boring. He was even planning to kill you after you had the baby. Even my poisoning attempts were his idea. How else could I have gotten all those expensive poisons?

“Another thing you don’t know is that he has other mistresses other than me. His oldest child is three years old. When you kill Luis, make sure to deal with his other children too. They all know their father is

rich and are waiting for their inheritance.”

I was flabbergasted.

I did not know any of this, even in the previous timeline.

Had I not gotten this information today, these children’s existence would have become a problem further

down the road for sure.

Luis could not believe that Bianca had exposed him. He became incensed. In a few strides, he was standing before Bianca. He reached out and throttled her.

“You witch! You devious witch! How could you accuse me of such things just to survive? If you hadn’t run off, I wouldn’t have gone to look for you, and none of this would have happened. This is all your fault!”

Luis seemed to have found the best excuse for himself.

He gripped Bianca tighter and tighter.

Bianca twisted painfully to look at me. “You said you would save me, Mrs. Marconi.”

I waved a hand. “Didn’t I say you have to kill the other? You didn’t hear me clearly, Bianca.”

Bianca never thought that I would go so far, especially when I had always been kind before. She had more to say, but her breathing became weaker. In the end, it faded away. Her eyes were still open even after she died.

Luis was shaking all over. He looked at the woman he had just killed, his first love, his mistress. However, he did not linger over her for too long. He crawled toward me and looked at me with self-abasement in his eyes.

“Cara, I waited outside your door and begged for three days to marry you. You know that I love you. I was only blinded by those temptresses. Don’t worry, I’ll deal with all of those children. If you don’t like them, I’ll get rid of them. We can go back to the days of the past.

“Did you forget? You love the red wine I make for you. I’ll make you wine every single year. As for our children, well, do you like boys or girls? We can always have another baby. You always wanted to go traveling. I’ll go with you. I’ll accompany you anywhere.”

His words were so familiar to me.

I had begged Luis in just the same way in the previous timeline. But Luis had not even looked at me. He had been consumed by Bianca’s death.

At this very moment, though, he only had eyes for me. It was so absurd it made me want to laugh.

I did not want to listen to Luis’ promises.

From this, I learned that men would only make such promises when you were powerful or when you treated them with sincerity.

The rest of the time, their promises were worth less than trash.

I sat down again and spoke as I met Luis’ gaze, which was filled with despair and hatred. “Luis and Bianca got into a fight at the mansion. By the time people discovered them, they had both died.”

My tone was light as I sketched out the details of this supposed incident. No one present was a fool. They all knew who they should obey. They ignored Luis’ howls of pain and dragged him away like it was

nothing.

I left the sinister home that Enzo had gifted me.

To a woman, this was proof of luxurious treatment. But I did not want this. I wanted to be separated from

Luis completely.

I found the children Bianca had mentioned and sent them all abroad, never to return. Luis had taught them nonsense. When they saw me, they all screamed and wanted to hit me. But I would not be merciful. After all, Luis had not been merciful toward my baby in the previous timeline.

After handling all this, I submitted the divorce papers Luis had signed.

It was the first time in the family that a woman had divorced a man.

While the members of the family castigated me, Luis was starving to death back at the mansion.

I even heard that he had cut off his own flesh to feed himself.

At the same time, Enzo’s verdict was passed down.

My father was found to be innocent, and his name was cleared. Since I had saved Enzo, I was given a

lofty position in the family. Enzo did not even say anything when he found Luis dead. He only ordered the body to be thrown out in the suburbs and not to be buried in the family plot.

I was finally free.
