The Don’s Fake Sister in Law Chapter 10

The Don’s Fake Sister in Law Chapter 10

Ethan couldn’t meet my eyes the next morning.

He fled like he was dodging surveillance.

The moment he was gone, Nathan immediately started planting seeds against Ethan.

“Claire, you’re too good for Ethan. He left you in the cold yesterday-didn’t care at all.”

“Comes home without a word-probably out doing God knows what. That man’s all looks. Can’t keep a woman warm. Campbells like him don’t know how to treat a real partner.”

He didn’t even blush as he tied on an apron and started cooking.

His intentions were transparent.

I watched him thoughtfully and murmured, “But… I’m already with Ethan.”

Nathan’s face twitched.

He stifled his bitterness, his voice low. “Ethan’s no good. I’m better. Really. Give me a chance. I’ll give you more than he ever could.”

I was silent for a long moment. “But I’m with Ethan.”

He leaned in closer, shedding every last shred of pride. “I won’t tell him. I’ll treat you right-secret. I’ll leave the family business behind. Just you.”

I didn’t speak. Just looked at him with wet eyes.

He leaned in and kissed me. I didn’t pull away.

And Nathan, with that as his permission, went straight to Instagram Story-knowing he’d have to tell me later. His posts were barely veiled taunts aimed at Ethan:

[Taking back what’s mine, piece by piece.]

[Playing king while I’m gone? Cute.]

[My lips still sting-she called me a good boy.]

[Cheaters don’t win forever. My girl’s coming home.]

He blocked me before posting, forgetting we had mutual friends.

A screenshot landed in my DMS: [Is Nathan losing it?] While scrolling, I caught Ethan’s message

[You said you wanted to be with me.]

It vanished before I could even blink-just the “Message Unsent” alert hanging there.

He didn’t follow up. But he showed up that night anyway.

This time, he brought a small velvet box. Inside lay a ring.

He took my hand and slid it on.

No grand speech, just “Looks good on you. Family heirloom-wear it, and you’re my woman.”

A matching band sat on his ring finger.

Nathan saw it all from the kitchen, his knife hitting the cutting board harder with every chop.

Ethan pulled a black card from his inside pocket and pressed it into my palm. “Shop if you’re bored.

Don’t hold back. Take guards with you.”

Unlike Nathan’s domestic play, Ethan dealt in a different currency-power and money, of which he

had plenty.

He didn’t mention his earlier message. Neither did I.

I wrapped my arms around his waist. A silent truce.

This time, he didn’t pull away. Not even when Nathan came out with dinner and found us tangled

together.

From the moment Nathan had agreed to play dead-to fake his own disappearance-he’d already

lost any claim to the ring.

Ethan glanced toward the kitchen. “Claire’s stomach is fragile. Keep it light. The Campbell donna

doesn’t suffer for anyone.”

I smiled and stayed silent, looking down at the black card, then around the immaculate apartment.

One paid the bills. The other cooked the meals.

I thought back to the day Ethan had passed his judgment on me.

Gold digger. Fake. Suffering for money.

The Don Campbell knew exactly what he was talking about.

Good women get remembered.

I get everything.
