The Don’s Fake Sister in Law Chapter 08

The Don’s Fake Sister in Law Chapter 08

I completely ignored the fact that he was fuming.

“Were you picturing our wedding earlier?” I asked, shameless.

Ethan’s face twisted with disgust. “Claire, drop it. I’m not falling for my brother’s ex. What would it look like? The Campbell Don marrying his brother’s former girlfriend?”

“But you already made him break up with me,” I said. “I’m not your sister-in-law anymore.”

He snapped. “Because I didn’t want him being fooled by you!”

His voice was brutal, sharp enough to cut. I flinched, shrinking back as I looked up at him with wide, wounded eyes. “You’re yelling at me.”

He flinched at his own harshness. He couldn’t apologize, just pulled back and sat up straight.

I clutched my stomach, letting tears fall silently.

He sneered. “Pregnant again? Whose this time?”

“You made my stomach hurt,” I whined.

He paused, then looked away awkwardly. “The doctor said to massage it.”

I pressed my cold hand over his. “But my hands are freezing. Rubbing like this will just make it

worse.”

I gave his hand a squeeze. “Yours are so warm. Could you help me?”

He didn’t resist. He didn’t look at me.

I guided his hand to my belly, over the soft fabric, and moved it in slow circles. “Ethan, are you sure there’s nothing between us?”

“I’ve answered that already. How many times do I need to repeat it?”

I cupped his chin, forcing him to meet my eyes.

His hand still rested on my stomach, warm through the thin cloth. He moved in slow circles, his palm spanning my waist, almost pulling me closer.

I asked, “Do all brothers touch their sister-in-law’s stomach like this?”

He froze, yanking his hand away like he’d been burned. “Get out!”

I took the hint and scrambled out.

It was cold. Wind bit through my clothes.

A warm hand landed on my shoulder, pulling me into an embrace. “Don’t catch a cold, Claire.”

Nathan wrapped himself around me, shielding me from the wind.

He stood by Ethan’s car, staring through the glass.

Ethan met his gaze with a blank face.

Only his hands on the steering wheel betrayed him-white-knuckled, trembling.
