The Don’s Fake Sister in Law Chapter 06

Nathan slept in the living room that night.

Ethan kept waiting for him to step out so he could make a break for it, but Nathan didn’t budge. Instead, he was up early making breakfast.

Ethan had no choice. He had business at the estate and couldn’t exactly set up camp in my closet

permanently.

He steeled himself, opened the bedroom door, and met Nathan’s eyes across the room.

Nathan stared at him blankly, then silently set three place settings at the table.

That look gave Ethan chills. He scrambled to explain, “This isn’t what you think. I was forced into

“Ethan. Eat before it gets cold.” Nathan cut him off flatly, refusing to hear it.

Ethan tried again, swearing he’d done nothing wrong, but Nathan just shoved a bagel into his mouth. “Quiet. Table manners, remember?”

Nathan was way too calm today. Something was wrong.

Ethan stared at the lavish spread, too nervous to take a bite-half convinced Nathan had poisoned

Only when Nathan started eating did he tentatively pick up his fork. He’d barely had a sip of coffee

when Nathan dropped the bomb.

“The estate cat’s due for neutering. I heard they do BOGO half off. Ethan, since you’re not exactly

using yours, might as well get it done together. It’s not like the Campbells need you to carry on the

line.”

Ethan stood up, livid. “I’m done. Heading to the estate.”

He took two steps, then looked back at me still eating.

Without warning, he grabbed me by the arm and pulled me toward the door, lying smoothly. “You said you had errands today. I’m heading that way-I’ll drop you off.”

Nathan watched us, his face dark.

In the elevator, Ethan let go and explained. “Nathan’s off today. I didn’t want to leave you alone with

him. He’s been getting more like our father-reckless, impulsive.”

“Honestly, as mad as I am at you, this whole mess is partly my fault too.”

Ethan looked exhausted, with dark circles under his eyes.

This drama was wearing him down more than any territory dispute ever had.

We got into the car. “Anywhere specific you want to go? If not, you can hang out in my office’s lounge-it’s big, bulletproof, private. I’ll take you back when I’m done.”

I covered my mouth and gagged slightly.

He glanced over. “Motion sickness?”

I shook my head. “Nope. Just pregnant.”

He slammed the brakes so hard the tires screeched. “What?!”
