The Devil Alpha’s Last Chance Chapter 01

The Devil Alpha’s Last Chance Chapter 01

The fake daughter of the Bloodmoon Pack killed a member of a neighboring pack in a drunk driving accident.

Crying that she was terrified, Zara hid behind my Alpha brother, Zayden, and without a second thought, he pushed me forward to take the blame.

My mate, who served as the Alpha judge at the trial, even gave false testimony and identified me as the culprit in court.

Three years in prison turned into a living hell.

I was abused relentlessly, my right hand was permanently crippled, and the endless torture left me with terminal stomach cancer that could never be cured.

“Prisoner No. 33, live a better life from now on. Don’t ever come back here.”

After my release, I never returned to the pack. Instead, I changed my name and disappeared into a small northern pack, where I became the caretaker of a cemetery.

I even bought myself a gravestone. Coincidentally, it was also numbered 33.

One rainy afternoon, a man stopped in front of me, holding an umbrella. “Has anyone ever come to visit the owner of Grave No. 33?”

My left hand, the one I used to write in the register, froze.

Hearing that voice again felt like a lifetime had passed.

The rain continued to fall. I didn’t look up. I simply answered calmly, “She doesn’t have any family.”

Zayden paused for a moment before letting out a quiet laugh. “Do you know how long I’ve been looking for you, Yasmin? Do you even have a heart?”

I finally looked up.

After all these years, he was still dressed in tailored luxury, as refined and commanding as ever, his powerful Alpha aura filling the air.

As for me, illness had reduced me to skin and bones, and even my wolf had fallen silent.

Watching his eyes slowly redden, I found it almost laughable.

“Did Zara make another mistake?” I asked. “Are you here to make me take the blame for her again?”

“Yasmin Lennox!”

A flicker of guilt crossed his eyes before disappearing just as quickly.

“Zara has always been in poor health. You only spent three years in prison for her. Are you really still hung up on that?”

His words were as cold and cutting as they had been three years ago, when he personally escorted me into the werewolf prison.

“Zara’s too frail to endure prison. You’re her sister. What’s wrong with serving a few years in her place? Our pack’s reputation has to be protected, and you’re the one who should step up.”

The memory faded, and I gave a faint, bitter smile, “No. I can’t let it go.”

Zayden froze.

“Stop making a scene and come back to the pack with me.”

He grabbed my wrist and easily pulled me out of the registration office.

“Let go of me!”

I struggled with all my strength, but the surge of emotion left me unable to catch my breath.

Zayden finally stopped and looked at me properly, “What’s wrong with you?”

When I caught the trace of panic in his eyes, I almost wanted to laugh.

“If you really cared about me,” I said as I pulled my arm free and forced myself to stay calm, “then give me back the justice I deserve. Tell everyone the truth about what happened back then…”

“Do you want to ruin Zara?”

There it was.

Even now, as the Alpha of the most powerful pack, with authority and influence beyond compare, he still refused to clear the name of his own biological sister.

If he found out my hand had been crippled…

He would probably be pleased.

After all, Zara was a healer too, and every time I ranked first in medical school, she cried.

The heart I thought had long gone numb still ached.

“Then why did you come looking for me?”

I truly didn’t understand.

My voice trembled despite my best efforts to steady it.

“Yasmin, you only spent three years in prison for Zara. It wasn’t that serious.”

Zayden sighed impatiently.

“I can support you for the rest of your life. That’s a much better future than staying here guarding graves. Stop being so ungrateful.”

Ignoring my resistance, he shoved me into his car, “Where do you live?”

I no longer had the strength to argue. Numbly, I gave him my address.

The car eventually stopped in a run-down neighborhood where the rent was cheap enough that there weren’t even any streetlights.

Zayden followed me upstairs, his pace much slower than before.

A passing neighbor recognized me and smiled, “Ms. Pryce, you’re home early today.”

Then she glanced curiously at Zayden.

Before I could react, he grabbed my arm again.

“You changed your last name?”

His grip pressed hard against an old injury, and I gasped in pain.

He acted as though he hadn’t noticed and only tightened his hold.

“Who gave you permission to change it?”

“Hey! Who do you think you are? Let her go!”

When he shoved Mrs. Patty aside, something inside me finally snapped.

“What does it have to do with you?”

I wrenched myself free with all the strength I had left and shouted at the top of my lungs.

“You’ve already seen the life I’m living now.”

“So please…”

“Don’t come looking for me again.”

“I’m begging you.”
