A tear dropped onto the top of my foot.

I scrubbed the corner of my eye hard and took a step back.

“Mrs. Hetter, if you really mean that, Gina should come here herself and apologize to me.

“Second, Gina is an adult now. She should pay for what she did instead of sending her mother out to/ guilt-trip me.”

“Last of all.”

I looked straight into her eyes.

“I survived, but Addison died a long time ago.”

“So I hope you keep treating me as dead and stop coming into

my life.”

The color drained from her face inch by inch.

I turned away and walked upstairs without looking back.

She stayed there on her knees like a stone statue.

The butler went to help her up and guide her to the door.

Right as the door was about to close, Kylie suddenly burst into tears and fought to turn toward me.

“Addison, I’m sorry!”

This time, I failed to hold it in.

Tears fell.
