The Comments Told Me to Fight the Fake Heiress but I Chose Her as My Sister Chapter 05

The crimson lines swarmed over me like locusts, crowding my vision.

[He’s right!]

[Elowen only wins by playing the good girl!]

[She’s such a sugar-coated snake!]

I stared at the word “Voss” and felt burned.

I didn’t want to be a Voss. At least, I didn’t want to choose it.

I lifted my eyes to Silas.

He still wore that gentle, polished smile, as if none of the sneering crowd in the room had anything to do with

him.

Then I asked, “You really want me and her to fight?”

The crimson lines rolled again.

[He just cares about you!]

[You’re the real daughter. Of course he wants you to take back what’s yours!]

[Tell him you’ll drive the fake out!]

Silas’s smile didn’t change.

He even leaned forward, voice soft, like he was soothing a sulking child.

“I just don’t want you to get hurt.”

“Really?”

I set the champagne aside.

“Then why didn’t you say something back there?”

He paused a beat, then delivered the perfect answer.

“I thought you could handle it.”

I laughed. I knew this line.

In my past life, every time I’d stood in a crowd, humiliated and questioned and called “country bumpkin” to my face, he’d stood three feet away, calmly watching, waiting for me to flail and explain and finally lose

control.

Then he’d walk over, voice dripping with disappointment. “See? You’re just not graceful.”

This time, I wouldn’t give him that opening.

I turned to leave when his phone rang.

Silas glanced at the caller ID and stepped to the far side of the terrace to take it.

I didn’t mean to eavesdrop.

But the wind carried his voice.

“Relax. She’s more cautious than I expected, but underneath she still hates losing.”

My feet stopped.

His voice dropped, but it carried.

“Elowen’s no harder. She’s terrified of not having a legitimate claim.”

“Let the two of them fight. The Voss family falls apart eventually.”

I stood behind the curtain, my blood going cold by degrees.

The person on the other end must have asked something.

Silas chuckled.

“Once the betrothal’s sealed, I’ll make my move on Voss’s energy-storage project.”

“Lila wants to prove herself. She’s the easiest hook.”

“When the documents leak from her hands, the Voss family will just write it off as two sisters fighting over

favor.”

The crimson lines went dead silent.

Not one word.

Like a grave.

I gripped my phone until my knuckles whitened.

So that was it.

In my past life, everyone had turned on me not just because I was stupid.

Someone had set both me and Elowen on the board from the very beginning.

I was about to slip away when Silas spoke again.

“As for Elowen, she’s the better scapegoat.”

“If necessary, we let the world believe she couldn’t stand being replaced by the real daughter, and that she’s

the one who took Lila down.”

A chill ran down my spine.

The next second, a voice came from behind me, barely a whisper.

“You heard that too?”
