The Comments Told Me The Twin Brothers Shared Sensation Chapter 03

His dark gaze settled on the cord between us. He pressed his lips together but said nothing.

“Adrian, I noticed something while you were tying the safety tether. Your eyelashes are really long.”

I used to cling to Mason and chatter nonstop. Now I hovered around Adrian instead, talking his ear off while he answered with the occasional nod, shake of his head, or quiet hum.

Without the comments, I never would have known he had such stoic-cutie charm.

I had always assumed he hated me, so I had never dared to get close to him before.

“He looks exactly like me. Didn’t you notice my eyelashes when you were feeling me up?”

Mason let out a soft scoff, speaking to me for the first time since he had started giving me the silent treatment.

Adrian’s steps slowed, and he looked toward his brother.

I was equally surprised that Mason had spoken to me at all.

[The male lead finally couldn’t resist picking a fight, huh? The fact that she felt him up has been eating at him for days.]

I knew I was in the wrong, so I kept quiet to avoid starting an argument.

To my surprise, Mason’s expression only grew darker.

He stared at me for a long moment. Once he realized I had nothing to say, he strode ahead of us.

“If you two are fighting, don’t drag me into it just to get back at him.”

Adrian’s voice came from beside me. I turned toward him. His gaze was sharp and cold, but I caught a flicker of hurt beneath it.

The comments confirmed my suspicion.

[Ma’am, your ice-cold pick-me boy is served.]

[He thinks she’s only getting close to him to upset his brother. The second male lead is actually her canon love interest, but he’s still this insecure.]

After hesitating for two seconds, I reached for Adrian’s hand.

He stumbled midstep, and his fingers instantly went rigid. Feeling bold, I slipped my hand directly into his.

“No. I’m not getting close to you because of Mason.”

I did not explain any further.

I merely tickled his palm lightly with one fingertip and watched with satisfaction as the corner of his mouth lifted by exactly 0.3 pixels.

It turned out that flirting with a stoic cutie was much more fun than teasing a golden-retriever type.

The skin-to-skin contact sent a giddy little thrill through me too.

I was still drawing circles in Adrian’s palm when a shadow suddenly fell across us.

Startled, I looked up and found Mason standing in front of us. I had no idea when he had turned back, but his expression was dark and stormy.

“Was feeling me up not enough for you? Now you’re doing it to my brother too?”

He grabbed our joined hands and yanked them apart so hard that the emergency ration bars in the side pocket of my backpack spilled onto the ground.

Adrian also seemed caught off guard that his brother had doubled back just to pry our hands apart.

He froze for a moment, and Mason’s expression grew even worse.

“That stupid tether. You hook yourself to one guy today and another tomorrow.”

His next words died abruptly.

I stared in shock at the huge chunk of ice that had suddenly appeared in his mouth.

“Two years into the apocalypse, and you’ve forgotten how to speak like a normal person?”

Adrian’s eyes went glacial, and the comments exploded.

[He went straight into protect-my-girl mode. Doesn’t he care about his own brother at all? Mason’s eyes have gone red from the cold with that chunk of ice jammed in his mouth, and Adrian still doesn’t care. Some brother.]

[This secondary ship keeps bullying the male lead! Female lead, come protect your canon love interest!]

Sure enough, Chloe looked over when she heard the commotion.

Then she bent down and picked up one of the ration bars that had fallen from my bag.

“If nobody wants it, I’ll eat it.”

Mason seemed so furious with Adrian and me that he would not stay with us even during the supply run.

I did not learn that he had been injured until we returned that evening.

One of his arms was covered in a thick red stain, his lips drained of all color as he sat in the center of camp and stared up at me.

I instinctively started to reach for him, but then I saw Chloe coming in from outside.

Remembering that she was his canon love interest and a healer too, I looked away and hurried into the kitchen to watch Adrian slice fruit.

Fresh ingredients were almost nonexistent in the zombie apocalypse. Calling the room a kitchen was generous, since it held only a few knives, a cutting board, and a basin.

We had unexpectedly found several apples during the day’s supply run, and Adrian was melting some ice to wash them.

When I stepped inside, surprise briefly flashed across his face.

“Aren’t you going to heal Mason?”

I shook my head.

“He’ll let Chloe heal him.”
