The Comments Told Me I Was Carrying His Only Heirs Chapter 05

The next day, the nutritionist Ms. Higgins accompanied me to the hospital for my prenatal checkup.

Perhaps due to my poor nutrition before, the twins were both measuring a bit small.

As soon as we returned, Ms. Higgins immediately drew up a comprehensive nutrition plan.

Josiah never stopped by and rarely contacted me, only checking in occasionally on the babies.

I didn’t mind at all.

After all, there were no feelings between us, just a pure business transaction.

The comments revealed that because Josiah had lost his virtue and ended up with unexpected children, the main ML had completely pushed him out of the running.

Knowing he no longer stood a chance, Josiah had shifted from a competitor to a silent protector.

He was the definition of fiercely devoted.

Seeing that her son had finally given up on the FL, Josiah’s mother immediately started scouting for a suitable marriage partner.

She quickly set her sights on a wealthy heiress named Mila Vance.

Even though I knew Josiah would choose to grow old alone for the FL’s sake, this development still felt troublesome.

Once Mila found out about my existence, she would definitely come looking for trouble, and I didn’t exactly have the moral high ground.

I would just have to take the hit.

Of course, what I feared most happened.

Three days later, Mila showed up at my doorstep with a squad of bodyguards.

I didn’t dare open the door and immediately called Josiah.

Within five minutes, building management arrived and politely escorted Mila and her bodyguards off the premises.

Afterward, Josiah called to reassure me.

He told me he had no intention of marrying Mila and told me to rest easy, promising she wouldn’t trouble me again.

To top it off, he wired me an extra million dollars as compensation for the scare.

After that day, Mila genuinely stopped bothering me, and life returned to a peaceful routine for a while.

Then, one morning about two weeks later, I walked into the living room and saw Mila sitting on the sofa with an elegant, distinguished-looking middle-aged woman.

The housekeeper Martha and Ms. Higgins were standing off to the side, visibly trembling.

I instantly pieced together what was happening.

Mila had brought Josiah’s mother to deal with me.

[We are so doomed! Josiah’s mom has no idea her son has fertility issues. She absolutely despises mistresses and illegitimate children. She’s definitely going to force her to get an abortion!]

[Josiah, get back here right now! Otherwise, your mother is going to wipe out your only shot at having kids!]

Mila glared at me defiantly, the triumph and malice in her eyes completely undisguised.

Mrs. Carrington took a sip of her coffee and spoke without even looking up, “Josiah is abroad. He can’t save you today. I will give you twenty million dollars to abort the babies and leave Boston immediately. Don’t make this harder than it needs to be.”

I was at a complete loss for words. As I hesitated, Mrs. Carrington let out a cold laugh, “How ungrateful. Get in here!”

The second her words left her mouth, two imposing bodyguards marched into the room, stepping directly toward me.

I shielded my belly, taking frantic steps backward.

Just as I was debating whether to blurt out the truth about Josiah’s fertility issues, Mrs. Carrington’s phone suddenly rang.

She glanced at the screen and answered with casual arrogance, “You know exactly what I despise most. Nothing you say today will change my…”

Mrs. Carrington stopped dead in her tracks, a look of utter shock washing over her face.

Several minutes later, she hung up. After giving me a few heavily conflicted looks, she waved her hand to dismiss the bodyguards.

Mila grew anxious, looking at Mrs. Carrington in total confusion, “Mrs. Carrington!”

Mrs. Carrington rubbed her temples with an exhausted sigh, forcing herself to stay patient, “Mila, you should leave for now. This situation is a bit complicated. Once I get it sorted out, I will give you a proper explanation.”

A marriage alliance between the Vance and Carrington families would be the Vances marrying up.

Although Mila was unwilling to accept it, she didn’t dare defy Mrs. Carrington. She nodded meekly and said, “Alright, Mrs. Carrington.”
